When we go, I hate to be a slave to Ps's or anything like that...I try to make them later if I can so I can enjoy myself and not be held to having to be someplace mid-day or middle of the evening...anyone else like this? Or is it just me? Don't get me wrong, we make a PS here and there, but I guess I enjoy the spontaneity..I plan somethings, but I guess I am not a total slave to the Ps...there are certian places I definitely must go every trip, but I work them in later in the day...oh well, guess I was just wondering if I am the only one who thinks this?

I'm like you. I only made one PS before we left for our trip last July. Made others once we got there. Each night we talk about what we'd like to see/do the next day and take it from there. I don't like to feel like a commando. After all, it's supposed to be a vacation!
I work in a school, so I can only go when WDW is crowded, so we always get up early and get to the parks when they open.

Other then knowing what days we are going we never plan anything out.

We have never had a problem walking into restuarants and getting seated no matter the time of year. That includes every character meal we have ever eaten.

I never plan either but we usually go in January when the crowds are low.
I'm a wee bit worried about NOT having made plans for our trip next week.

Do ya think I'll be sorry that I didn't make tons of PS and other plans?

Probably not...you could still make them when you go, can't you? I need to at least have 1 or 2 made before I get on the plane...I was just thinking to myself, we planned on staying a lot around the epcot resorts area (boardwalk beach club etc) and will I be missing out by not eating at O'hana and Chef Mickey's and my usuals...I am not sure if I will miss them this trip or not...

i have made one PS for my upcoming trip. and only because it is birthday surprise for my DS. other than that i pretty much look at my DS in the morning and ask what park he would like to go to. if i dont see it this trip i am sure i will come back.

We find we are more relaxed when we don't make alot of PS's.
To us it feels too much like "punching a time clock". We usually do one PS for a character meal. We leave all other meal schedules open since before you arrive it is hard to judge what the crowds will be like and how long it will take to do the things you want to do.;)

This next trip is going to be pretty open. My GF has never been and, as such, we are going to relax and go with whatever strikes us.........

Or rather, that's what we are telling each other. In reality I have read The Unofficial Guide a multitude of times, know where each ride is located and I am armed with advice and knowledge tendered from this board over the last year. As such we will be actually choosing destinations while my mind contemplates routes of attack, timing and nearby alternatives.

It will be relaxed and informal, but well-concieved. That's my plan. I hope she enjoys herself! I know I will.

I guess we are just too much into planning. Also, the "World" has grown so big and offers so much now! We usually go for 5-6 days, and find that there is so many things that we want to do that if we don't formulate some kind of schedule we'll miss something. We're not the "commandos" that we used to be, but with so many choices it works best for us to make them ahead of time. We've tried to work in at least one "open" day each trip to allow for last minute, on-site choices. But for us, the planning is (almost) half the fun! And we allow ourselves to be flexible enough to change things once we are there.

That said, if you can go without planning ahead, and have a fabulous time without feeling like you've missed anything, more power to you!!

I have always been a planner with lists for lists of lists that I want to make a note of in a list. That being said, this is our fifth trip to Disney and other than deciding which park we are going to visit on a specific day, that is it. We have rented a house, have our tickets, and we are going to take each place as it comes.
So far, all those Disney books are collecting dust for this trip. I did see the Disney documentary on the Travel Channel last night, and I could feel that note pad calling my name. I resisted and went to the refrigerator instead. By the way, my husband is taking odds on how long my madness will last.

Reforming Disney Addict - Planner!!!!!!!

I hardly ever plan out our days. Sometimes if theres a place we really want to eat, I'll make a PS for it. Otherwise we just go with the flow.

In looking at all your posts, I guess I do plan some things...just not all my meals...I read those guide books and get an idea of where I want to go first and stuff like that..so I am not a total relaxed WDW visitor, but not a commando either...I guess when i have kids, the commando in me will emerge!!!!:p

We had only 3 PS's on our last trip. One was for the Ice Cream Social at Epcot, which timed out perfectly with our laid back tour through Future World. One was for Whispering Canyon Cafe and the other was for the carriage ride we took after our dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe. That was it for the entire 7 day trip. This was plenty for us though. We do the laid back thing. Yes, I plan what park we will do and my honey is a picky eater, so I know where the acceptable restaurants are nearby where ever we are at WDW, but other than that, there is no major plan.

Now, my trip in December will be somewhat different. We will be doing CP and MVMCP. We also should be buying our ticket media from Paramount Travel and should be getting a breakfast voucher for a character/resort meal. So, we will be doing a little more planning this time, but we won't be slaves to PS's. One more thing that we plan on doing will be to see last installment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy at DTD. It debuts right in the middle of our vacation and I promised my honey we would see it as soon as it came out. Mickey

I agree about December. I too, want to do the CP, and the Yuletide tour, but I think the MVMCP will be over by the time we check in (dec 26) This is kind of our 1st wedding anniversary trip (we got married oct 21, 2002 at the wedding pavillion) so I am excited to plan some different things! I am going to see if I can request the waiter from yachtsman steakhouse from our wedding dinner and have the top tier of my cake recreated! So, I will definitely be planning...:Pinkbounc And I am antsy about it!!!!

No we never plan in advance. We usually make any PS for dinner the day before, sometimes a few days before. We have never had any problems. We go a lot so we don't feel we HAVE to do everything every time we go. We really like just "going with the flow". I will say though that if you are going for the first time, or if you don't get to WDW frequently I would tell people to plan ahead because WDW can be really overwhelming. We feel we know it so well that WDW is really a second home for us and we treat it as such.

Hi everyone.

I have always been a planner. This year I have tried to change my ways and just go without the plans. I have to plan and reserve Cirque if I want good seats. Other than which park (Maybe) on which day, I am going to do the PS'S the day before. I feel that dread of a missed PS coming on, but oh well I guess I can always try another place.

Sherry

I love to plan it all out, daydream about every detail, and then chuck the whole thing once I get there. I do some PS's, but other than that I'm a Wing It kind of gal.
