Anyone else NOT like horror?

I don’t do any kind of horror, but I can watch true crime all day long. Why????

The most blood drenched movie I can think of initially is Kill Bill (one and two). I seriously did not know there was that much fake blood in the world. Oddly enough, I didn't mind the gore. Liked the movies.

That's because Tarantino is a true filmmaker and, while violent, his films use violence to great effect in service of the narrative. That's different than gratuitous gore. Personally, I am not the biggest Tarantino fan, but I can't question his skill and passion for cinema.

Okay now we need story time...

I'm a person of faith who was very involved in knee to knee prayer helping people. I knew I shouldn't have been watching occult movies, but we watched one and something happened in our house that night, witnessed by friends and I don't want to talk about it here, But another friend, had something similar happen and we both came to the agreement no more demonic movies.
That stuff is real and you need to be careful opening a window in your home.

I don't like slasher type stuff but there is a (very) short list of what I enjoy...

The Shining (Kubrick)
Poltergeist
Stranger Things

...and I think that's it! I wouldn't call Stranger Things horror per se...

I also like Tucker and Dale Vs Evil but the gore is played for a comedic effect, and Kill Bill is also great but I don't consider that horror. Oh and the new Haunted Mansion I like but I don't really think that counts either.

You know what's real horror? Jaws, the book. Scared the hell outta me. Never read it all the way through. The Birds, as in the book, was scary enough, a masterpiece, so short yet so terrifying!
