Anyone else NOT like horror?

I prefer psychological horror, but I'm not above watching stupid slasher movies during October as part of the fun of Halloween. Most of them are just silly, but I have to admit a few have messed me up, like Saw and Hostel, or some independent movies I've watched on Netflix over the years that I can't unsee, haha.

I don't do haunted houses. Watching a movie on a screen is one thing, but I don't like being immersed in it in "real life". Haunted Mansion being the exception, of course. :goodvibes

I like psychological thrillers, but not blood and gore.

And I hate haunted houses other than the Disney version. Would absolutely never go to Universal's Halloween stuff.

I am not much of a horror fan, but it can depend. Like, I like old horror movies, like Universal Monster films and such. I like light horror, or like a Tim Burton movie where it's dark but kind of fun, or something like Poltergeist. I guess it's more accurate to say that I don't like "slasher movies" - the things like Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street, which have become synonomous with the genre.
I agree with this! I like the old horror movies like frankenstein, etc. But the bloody, gory ones are not for me. I also like the funny ones like Mel Brooks classic Frankenstein movie. Love that one. But just to watch ones where they kill, slash with lots of blood and stuff is not for me. I dont like haunted houses either. I can't stand someone behind me close or people jumping out at me.

i don't care for much of anything that's been produced since the original Friday the 13th (which I saw opening weekend and thought was creative in it's storyline). I love the OLD classics and realized just the other night while watching the original Frankenstein that it's in large part due to the attention to lighting-so many of the recent decade's have been so dimly lit or rely on being in the dark of night that it's difficult to see what is happening. as for 'recent' (at least for me :rotfl: ) horror movies I will give :thumbsup2 to 'cabin in the woods' (took dh YEARS to get me to watch it-i thought it was the same formula as all that genre), 'it' (I like both the made for TV and motion picture), zombie land double tap, and 'the stand' (I prefer the older made for TV, I was disappointed with the more recent-and YES I am looking forward to 'welcome to derry').

my multiple :thumbsup2are the classic universal movies, 'an american werewolf in london', many hitchcock's and 'the thing' (both the original and kurt russel's.

Same! (I forgot to answer that part before.)

Not fan of the newer horror films. Too graphic. The older ones, the ones I grew up with with Vincent Price and Alfred Hitchcock are great at "suggesting" what scary thing just happened, but it is all in YOUR head not on the screen.
I think you nailed the difference right there.

I don’t like horror either. It was further reinforced last night when I went to HHN with my family. I closed my eyes and held on to my husband while going through the houses, just hearing all the noises were enough for me. I don’t like jump scares at all and gore is just too much for me. I like the occasional psychological thriller. I do however like true crime shows, which is true life horror so I can’t say I hate it all.

I don't like horror movies, but I do love great murder mysteries (and don't really care about gore in them, so go figure).

Since we're approaching Halloween, is there anyone else who doesn't like horror? I don't do horror movies, don't like haunted houses, just generally don't like being scared.

And just in case some tries to read more into this, I'm not saying to do away with any of it. I simply don't partake and was wondering how alone I am.
Horror is the LAST thing I want to see.

No horror movies for me. And I don't go to haunted houses. I won't even go to the one in WDW any more. Not that it scares me but I don't like it.

I don't like the ugly, scary costumes. Give me little princesses and firemen.

And I don't like the scary house decorations or gigantic skeletons.
