Anyone else not have a clue what Pirates...Carib. 3 was about?

I enjoyed the first POTC.

Had a little trouble following the second POTC...but it seemed to do nothing but point to the third movie...which I never saw at the theater.

Saw a little of POTC 3 the other night...what a horrible movie...could not follow the plot or dialog...actors just seemed to be "punching the clock".

Was nothing but scene after scene of grimy folks with bad teeth.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

It's so funny you mention this cause I was trying to watch the 2nd movie this weekend and was completely lost.
I think I need to watch all 3 in one sitting, in order, on DVD since the TV cuts stuff out, and put on closed captioning. Then, maybe..... I will understand.

I agree, I had a really hard time simply understanding that witch lady. I spent most of the time when she was on screen saying "huh? What'd she say?"

I have only watched the first 30 minutes of the first one and had to turn it off. I knew there was a reason I waited until earlier this year to try and watch it.

I might not really understand the entire plot (when you start having plot within a plot within a plot, I start to get lost...same problem with the Mission Impossible movies), but I quite liked the movie.

I watched a little bit of it too on TV last night, and just wasn't feelin' it...not like when I pop the DVD into the bluray player and get the full effect.

YEP!!! I agree, the first and second werent too bad (altho the first to me is the best) when I finally saw the third on dvd i was like ??huh??...i just didnt get it. needless tosay i have never tried watching it after that. and if i read correctly theres another one being filmed? can they please not make it anything like the 3rd!!!

Calypso brought him back to life because she wanted him to gather the Brethren Court to free her. But they needed Jack, and he was in the Locker. So they went to Singapore to get the map. Meanwhile, Will made a deal with Captain Sao Feng to get the Pearl so he can free his father from Davy Jones curse. This betrays his love for Elizabeth, but they make up after she becomes King and they get married.

Basically, it's a love story.

Tia Dalma (Calypso) resurrected him because she needed both his and Jack's Brethren Court tokens, so she needed him to lead the crew that would rescue Jack.

The plot has circles within circles. I rather liked it, actually.

I thought it was just me!! I love all the movies, have watched them many times, but am still very confused. I think there are many plots happening simultaneously, and that is what makes it so hard to follow.


One plot I can semi understand: (please, correct me cause I know this can't all be right)

Tia Dalma, the lady in the swamp, is also Calypso. A long time ago, all of the 9 pirate lords bound her in human form, but she is really goddess of the sea (I think). She needs all of the pirates lords 'pieces of 8'. Pieces of 8 used to be coins, but for the pirates they were whatever they had on them when they bound her to human form the first time. She needs Barbossa's, so she brings him back to life. I have NO idea how, and if anyone does, PLEASE share!

She also needs Jack, who is in Davy Jones' locker. Barbossa leads all of them to rescue him. However, they need a certain map to find the locker. This is why they are in Asia, to get the map. I get very confused at that whole fight scene though.

Then there is the plot with Will, the meeting of the pirate lords, the whole British lord people, and who knows what else. If anyone can simply explain, i'd be very appreciative.

You know: I was hoping in the 3rd that at least one part would tell how Jack and Beckett knew each other, I mean Beckett really had issues with Jack and made a statement in the 2nd one about how each other left a mark on each other with Jack being branded with the pirate tattoo.

I'm still hoping that gets told. Because I have an extremely bizarre crush on Beckett. I cannot explain why. And I want to see more of his character...though it might be more fun to make it up, like "slash" fan-fiction, if I were good at such things...

Some of the duplicate Jacks are not wearing shirts! I'm not a big drool-over-Depp person (not since 21 Jump Street really), but seeing him shirtless in pirate-wear makes me a little happy.
