Anyone else "not get" American Idol???

I admit that I did watch most of the first season with Kelly Clarkson however the lead story on ALL of the news is about this person Mario who dropped out this season. The way they make this guy sound is like the second coming of Christ......I heard that he's at all of these parties with celebrities and that now he may be signed to some huge recording contract with P Diddy....???

I just don't get it...what is the fascination with someone who quit a show because they didn't like the contract from a show that was making him famous and everyone is in love with this person now??? I've never heard the kid sing either, but from the hype, you'd think he was the best singer in the world.

Perhaps i'm missing something since I never watch AI, but is there anyone else out there who does not watch AI and feels the same way as I?

I dont "get it" but I dont watch it either.....

He was actually pretty smart if ya think about it...never had to get voted off, and gets to be a "bling blinger" ..

I don't watch it either. But I'm not a good gauge of things. I might watch 1-2 hours of TV per week. I find most of the shows incredibly stupid and mind-numbing. There is obviously something wrong with my attention span that I cannot get through a one-hour show. But, I guiltily admit that 2 weeks ago, I was flipping channels and Nanny911 was on. I could NOT turn it off because it was like watching a bad accident. I refused to watch it this week!! And a few times, I'll channel surf and I always MUST STOP to watch Anderson Cooper on his news show. He is just so hot to me. But for the other stuff, forget it, I can't take it.

I gotta say I didn't get it either. Then this year I decided, I will watch to see the funny auditions. Yeah, well that didnt last, I am now hooked.
