Just curious if there are others that don't think Matterhorn is that bumpy? We were at DL for 5 days in May and prob rode it 10+ times, and I really did try to think it was bumpy (the general consensus and complaint about it on here) but honestly, didn't really notice it that bad. I will say I do miss the old "cuddle" seats as DH and I called them, but do understand that the old "honours system" seat belts were not safe.

Sorry. I'm definitely in the "bumpy" camp.

Nobody will ride it with me because of bumpiness and pain (through all seat and cushion configurations). Aside from some slightly jarring vibration, I’ve never had a single issue with it. It kind of annoys me that I never get to ride it (save for the rare instance I get to go off on my own).

I do feel that it's a little bumpy but not as bumpy as some wooden roller coasters I've ridden at other parks. Those are awful. Not bumpy enough to keep me from riding it. I just lean forward and hold on and it's fine. We prefer the faster side.

I think it's bumpy, but it's not like a constant bumpiness like some coasters, but every so often it kind of slams downward and it is admittedly tough on my back.

I find it to be jerky, but I was told last trip to lean forward and it worked... I still got jerked around a little but my back wasn't to bad. I love that ride it is the one ride that I remember from when I went as a child lol maybe I am blocking out the back pain. Hubby says he can't do it more than once it kills him... I found Space mountain got me worse that Matterhorn.

Just rode it for the first time today. I was shocked by the bumpiness! I have had whiplash that aggravates easily. I wouldn’t have rode Matterhorn had I known. So I definitely find it bumpy.

It usually doesn't bother me. I see what people are talking about with the bumpiness, but I don't think it's more bumpy than some other rides such as IJA or GRR. I think the reason this one gets complaints is because the ride vehicle is hard-sided and closed around you, so you can end up hitting the sides/back of the vehicle when there are bumps. On IJA and GRR there isn't really anything for you to bump into.

I'm surprised I don't see more complaints about BTMRR. On that one I often slide right into the side of the vehicle, followed quickly by the impact of my riding companion sliding into me. It seems like that would be rough if you had back or hip problems, unless you hold the lap bar tightly to keep from sliding.

I don't find the ride that painful, but I sit leaning forward so that my back is not bouncing against the seat back.
This. I was surprised that it wasn't as bumpy as I've felt on times pass. But I definitely braced myself.

However, I've really hurt my back on Matterhorn in the past. Didn't enjoy the rest of my trip; spent weeks at the chiropractor after returning home. I don't ride unless someone I'm with makes me.

First time we rode it we said "never again" since it was so rough - and went several trips without going on it. But this latest trip DD wanted to ride it and we were with someone who had never done it so we went on it again, this time it was not too bad. DH said it was still pretty rough for him but I found it better than it was before the seat changes. DD and I rode it several times, DH went on it once more. DD thought it hilarious - she laughed the whole ride :hyper:

It is the jerkiness that gets me.

I am pretty healthy and active adult with zero back problems, but there is something about roller coaster jerks that hurt my back. On Big Thunder and Space Mountain I know exactly when to pull myself off the back of the seat a bit so when the jerk of the train engaging on the lifting chain hits, but on Matterhorn that is the entire ride for me.

Usually sit that one out.
