Anyone else miss the garland across mainstreet?

More importantly, does anyone know why it was taken down to begin with????????????

I liked the garland better too. But unfortunately the new parade floats are higher than the old ones, and the garland was too low.:(

I loved the garland. I have a few beautiful photos in the day and at night (with the snow coming down) taken from the Main Street Train station and they are gorgeous. They're also very typical of small towns particularly in days gone by. Why does the parade have to have such tall floats? Can a 5 year old even see the tops of them? Probably not.

The parade is part of the reason, but I did see on one of the Disney Parks videos on Youtube that they changed it so there would be an unobstructed view of the castle.

FoF is brilliant and I love the huge floats. The Christmas decorations are still quite prominent, so I don't see it as a loss.

I was disappointed to see the pictures this year without the garland. My only previous holiday trips it was there and I loved it. I do think the new look is nice and it does not block the castle but I think I will still miss it some when we are there next week.

I loved the garland. If you don't get the wreath in the image during the daytime, it looks like you're at Disney any other time of the year.

I will say, though, that having a clear unobstructed view of the castle from Town Square is awesome at night.

Thank goodness WDW isn't designed just for 5 year olds, although 5 year olds can see the tops of the floats as well as anyone else. It's probably the easiest part of the float to see, not blocked by the people in front.

I totally agree! I grew up with the garland by watching the parade every year on TV and I'm happy I got to see it during my two January trips a few years back. I think the new decor is understated and nice but it will never beat those garlands for me.

Again I understand how having a clear view of the castle is nice but it's not like it obstructed your view that bad and it made the magic kingdom look honestly magical and Christmassy

I never saw the garland in person, I thought the wreaths and how they were hung was well done and wasn't upset they were there. I did notice in pictures last year you couldn't really see it was christmas in the background unless it was night and the castle was "frozen" lighting.
