Anyone Else Miss 20000 Leagues Under the Sea?

I liked it as a kid, though I can't say the memories were lasting because I barely remember anything besides having to wait in a very long line to ride it.

I understand why they closed it (hard to maintain/slow loader/mermaid union difficult to deal with). But I am more disappointed in the Pooh playground that replaced it than the fact that they closed it. That is prime real estate. It needs a real attraction.

I was riding the Skyway last month and saw behind all that Pooh crap that the subs were still tooling their way around the Lagoon. It turns out, the ride is still open, but only DVC Members are allowed to ride it. There's a secret entrance on the way to Toontown on your left. Show your DVC ID to the CM and you can ride.

They really improved it over the years. Plus they added Ariel, Triton and Ursula audio-animatronics and a whole Finding Nemo section.

It was a ride that was great even when you didn't go on it.

I will agree with this, was cool to look at from above, but on the ride it was way too hokey, those faded out things tied to strings you could see. Really had potential to be something cool, but.................I had hoped it would change to something like Little Mermaid, then NEMO, bright colorful.........oh well it loaded so slow I don't imagine it was worth a rehab.

Glad to see it go, still hoping there is room behind Poohs Tree for something cool :cool1:

PS EQUALLY glad to see the Skyway gone ! But I dearly miss Mr. Toad

Could you imagine how cool of a ride they could make today with all the new effects and technology!!

I wish you were being serious. I never got to ride it as we made our first trip in 2003 and it sounds so wonderful. I love mermaids!

I miss it. I was just thinking about it yesterday. Me and my daddy went on that in April of 83 :teeth:
