Anyone else live in an ultra PC town?

I live in probably one of the most PC areas of the country. I am fairly liberal in my beliefs, but sometimes it is even a bit much, even for me. We are not allwed to say the "C" word in school, but yet we can have Kwanzaa celebrations and Hannakah celebrations:confused: I am all for embracing multiculturalism, but shouldn't that mean embracing all cultures? Anyone else live in a town like mine (once voted "the Crankiest Town in America' by the American Bar Association)?

I recently moved from one college town to another and both of those were/are quite PC. My previous town was worse). I get annoyed by this kind of thing daily. I generally TRY to find the humor in these assinine RULES in order to deal with them.

In closing, there is one thing that I would llike to say....just to be obnoxious..."Christmas, Christmas, Christmas, Christmas, Christmas, Christmas, Christmas"

I hope it is legal to type the word;)

I live in a very PC area, and I am grateful for that fact. I like that my kids have grown up in muti cultural schools, they have learned so much not only about different religions, but different cultures.

Of course, in my kids' school Christmas is recognized every bit as much as the other holdays, so rather then excluding any religious observance, they are including them all. I would not be happy if Christmas were excluded either.

I like Snoopy live in a very multicultural area... our kids school district tries to include all cultures.. with everything that they do.

However, where I work, it is about 90% Jewish. In this middle school, most students are Jewish, and the remainder is either Christian or Hindu. I am grateful for that as well because it exposes them as well.

Ditto here. I have no problem with multicuolturalism being all-inclusive. Christmas should be included in multiculturalism.

The reason some places exclude it is because it is the mistaken belief that if you include it, you are endorsing the religion of the majority to the exclusion of the minority. Remeber, in our parents' day, The Lord's Prayer was recited in school, the Bible was read during assembly, and our parents were taught the words to all the traditional religious carols for the Christmas pageant. To exclude Christmas is going to the opposite extreme.

I don't like extremes.

What I object to is when all the references to Christmas are about Santa Claus. That is not the reason for Chirstmas. It is a celebration of Christ's birthday. I don't see why if they can talk about Hannukah and Kwanza they refuse to talk about the true meaning of Christmas.

That is messed up. I think the people who run that school are missing the point.

How is ignoring our differences going to help us embrace multiculturalism? Another example... it drives me nuts that you can't even mention a person's ethnicity/religion/etc without some people thinking you're racist. IMO, if you are treating these as "bad words," you're implying there's something wrong with them. I happen to appreciate diversity, so if I ask what country you're from, you should answer with pride instead of insult, unless you're ashamed of being what you are.

I was actually called a racist at work once for saying, "Hola" to one of our many South American employees. I thought that just took the cake. I use that word ALL the time! I didn't realize that I should have been insulted when people in France said, "Hello" to me.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I like all people but I hate being told what I should say or do by other people
