This thread has no real point to it, but I just wanted to say that even though there are negative threads about the resorts, including the ones my family and I will be staying at in July, I am simply thrilled to know that we're going to Disney World and are able to stay at the concierge level which, for me, has it's value in its level of service, including all of the pre-planning help I've been getting, plus knowing we can grab a cup of coffee and a muffin or bagel or fruit in the morning, and go! :sunny:

Due to medical reasons, we have to make PSs for lunch and dinner and dine at sit-down restaurants, so I love the idea of just getting up and having a quick breakfast, since lunch and dinner will inevitably take up a good chunk of time each day.

My DH even keeps saying that just the idea of the quick breakfast alone, close at hand in the concierge lounge, is worth the extra $$$.

Anyone else just happy to be going to WDW and staying concierge, and not worrying too much about anything else?? :)

P.S. This is not meant to dimish the feelings and/or opinions of any other posters! :wave2: I know it's a huge disappointment to have something negative happen during vacation, but I am speaking in a general sense here.

I totally agree! And when you have kids being able to grab that juice, milk or coke without having to wait for everyone else to be ready to go is worth every dime.

That was the ultimate factor in our choice to stay 14th floor CL at CR when we go in Oct.. We will only be there for 2 nights before we check into the BWV. It was only a little more $ and we are planning on spending some down time the first few days we are there before we hit Food and Wine Fest.. I am looking forward to getting up and walking down to the lounge and having a light breakfast and then coming back in the middle of the day and having a snack and a swim and then having a little nibble before we head out for the evening. We usually eat dinner late so this will be wonderful!

Hi Seaspray,

We are planning our 15th trip for July 06 and will be staying at AKL Concierge Level. Our youngest son is graduating high school and it is his choice.........good taste kid! We have a timeshare in Kissimmee and usually alternate years staying at the timeshare or on property. (this summer is a timeshare year) Anyway, we have never stayed concierge and when I read your post it really made me smile :teeth: My family is thrilled to go to WDW no matter where we stay and knowing that we are staying concierge is just icing on the cake. We have all experienced a few bumps in service and experiences over the years, and although it can be frustrating, we never let it diminish our overall Disney experience. We know how lucky we are to be able to go as often as we do, bumps and all! Enjoy your vacation.please let me know how concierge level was for you at the AKL. :rotfl:

Seaspray you should try a 1 bedroom at a DVC resort you will be amazed at how much nicer it is than any concierge level.

Loved the one bedrooms at the villas but in my mind NOTHING beats the Poly Concierge...and I have had some bumps in my service there....still I absolutely LOVE the place. The view is sooooo totally awesome, the lounge is so convenient, love the rooms...gotta agree with you Seaspray just knowing I am going there gives me a good feeling. Love it there!

I'm with you Seaspray. Very glad to be able to stay at the Polynesian or Grand Floridian to begin with and staying concierge when we do is just icing on the cake.

While we love our stays at BCV too, I don't think of it as better but just different. Love the whirlpool bath, full refrig and especially the washer/dryer. But the views at any of the DVCs don't come close to the magical views at the Polynesian IMHO.

The treats in the lounge are good and fun to have so close. And on a very practical note, any room at the Polynesian provides two queen beds and a twin sized daybed while a 1BR only has a kingsize bed and a sleeper couch in the LR. For our family of 5, that is a real drawback and one reason we didn't buy at DVC for many years. Even now most of our DVC stays have been with just DS2 who thinks the sleeper is fun. Our other two like a real bed and I don't blame them! :sunny:

We have not stayed concierge yet, but we do really short trips (5 nights was the longest)...if I stayed longer I definitely think it is worth it. After 5 days at the WL, it was tiresome "looking for" a snack or drink. The lounge would have been so convenient (as my upgraded inlaws were happy to point out!) When I'm teaching (next year, yeah!) and we have a second income, it will probably be a lot easier to go for longer stays and the concierge/services will be very worth it!

Right now, I am just looking forward to the garden view at the POLY!!! I know we're going to have the best time (even if it's just 4 nights!)- we are 30 days out today!

Terry,

Here's to NOT having plans for September!!!!!

SeaSpray... You are going with the right attitude! Continue to be happy about your trip and your choices... look at all the positives and indeed you WILL have a magical time!

We took our first family trip last summer (BC Concierge) and had the best time both anticipating and then experiencing "the Magic"! :teeth: I'm also totally convinced we would have had a great time no matter where we stayed, though I did love the little luxuries. ;) All resorts have their fans and all resorts have their less-than-shining moments. Try not to worry... afterall... you're going to Disney! Wish I could say the same right now!! ;)

DH and I feel like its worth the extra money. We only stayed 2 times at WL, but we would do it again in a heart beat. Enjoy your trip.

We are going to Wilderness Lodge concierge in June. Except for a few morinings, we indulge in the offereings they have for breakfast. It is so nice to get a quick bite and then head to the parks. The WL concierge staff is so easy to work with. They were able to obtain all the PS's I requested for the exact times. We usually come back to the resort for a midday break and the girls love to get cookies and goodies for a snack. The service is definitely worth it. :flower:

Concierge is a really neat blessing!! It is so nice to get up and go get your breakfast- we usually sit on our balcony and eat- sounds so good- wish I was there right now!! We've done YC concierge and CR limited concierge so far. This time we will be doing a garden view standard room at the Poly. It will be different not having that convenience this time..this is a more budget trip for us.

I love Concierge....
poly just did it for me!!!

but we went with CR concierge for a change...I've been told that I will be disappointed. but quite honestly don't think so..kids are older and they like change ,,so I am looking forward to it.

of course second half of the trip I demanded BWV,,,,cannot beat location, location,location...and the w/d fridge round it out for me.
actuallly 1 br villa is almost half the price of one nite concierge

but want to try it

after all ,,it is a vacation

Hi!

I am currently (or at least trying to) planning our Disney wedding for September...it will be our first trip to WDW. When DH2B and I were discussing where to stay (there are SOOO many choices) he suggested the Poly and since we are getting married there (at Sunset Point) I thought that was a great idea...then he suggested doing concierge. At first I thought it was too expensive and extravagant for us, but he pointed out this was a "once in a lifetime" event and we deserved the "extras".

So...long answer is we are THRILLED at the idea of getting married at WDW and to be staying concierge!
:jumping1:

Thanks for the comments, everyone! :)

Susy: That's right! I plan on being able to make it to the Polynesian this time! :teeth: (Susy is referring to last September when we had to miss our stay at the Polynesian due to Hurricane Frances. But it wasn't too bad really because the main reason we missed the Polynesian was because our 7-night Disney cruise got extended to a 10-night cruise because the captain wanted to keep us FAR away from the storms! A Disney cruise ship is not a bad place to be while avoiding a hurricane ;) )

To be going to WDW is a treat in and of itself but staying at the Poly Concierge is extra special. :cloud9: Glad you were able to finally get in there! :cool1:

We also had to shorten our stay at the YC last year due to Frances. :( We were on the Wonder just prior to the storm (our ship evacuated Castaway Cay). We'd stayed at the YC the night before the cruise and were supposed to go back for three nights afterward but instead were lucky to get on a flight home. Despite the storm and inconvenience, staying longer on the Magic must have been nice?? :wizard:

I have an upcoming birthday in October and my husband innocently asked me if I would like to do anything special. Well, since it is a BIG one, (Lordy, Lordy look who's turnin'...well, you know the rest) I of course said Disney and MNSVSHP!!! We've always stayed deluxe, but never at the Poly. I just made ressies for Poly lagoon view and, drum roll please, first time concierge!!!! :teeth: I know we won't be dissapointed from all the things I've read on the boards! Thanks, you guys, for all the great info!

I feel so lucky, as well!!!

We are only doing two nights at YC concierge before we move over to BWV. But two nights of concierge is better than no concierge. While we love the villas (we are DVC members), nothing compares to the level of service you receive from the IPO staff and my kids LOVE being able to go the lounge and grab snacks and drinks (and they are only 5 and 2). My 5 year old would be happy to stay in the lounge all day and never go to the parks!

Thanks for making us remember how lucky we are!

I've always been lucky enough to stay Conc at GF. Once in Sugar Loaf, all the other times in the Main Build in RPC.

I look at it this way, I work very hard all year long and I'd rather spend a few days a year at DIsney in the GF RPC than 10 days at one of the value resorts (NO flames please).

Everyone has different tastes, for me, I'd rather an incredible 3 day trip with all the extra bennies that come with Conc., including most importantly the pre-planning.

Part of my "vacations" is the planning that goes into it (I am a planning addict). I don't tell anyone of my plans, but have everything "mapped out" so the suprises "unfold" over the ocurse of the stay. Conc. has helped emmensely with the pre-planning.

Secondly as another poster said, the access to drinks and snacks throughout the day is incredible. I like not having to spend time search, waiting in line etc for snacks.
