Anyone else just happy to be going to Disney World and able to stay concierge....??

You are going to have such a good time! Poly concierge is my favorite - well, okay, it's the only Disney resort concierge I have experienced but I loooooooooove it. Plus it's nostalgic because it's where I stayed with my mom and dad when I was growing up.

I am so excited because DH and I are doing our first concierge trip this summer at BC. Paying for it all ourselves seems like such an accomplishment! :earboy2: I'm starting to get excited that it won't be too long now (I hope) until it's me taking my kids (non-exsistant at this point in time) to stay at the Poly, making life-long memories.

Enjoy your trip!

Six years ago when the Magic Kingdom Club was still around, I called to see if there were any discounts I could apply to my trip. The CM stated they had the 12th floor tower for the same price as a tower room in the CR. Well needless to say we were hooked. Since then we have stayed at the GF RPC twice, YC Concierge and Poly concierge. We are hooked on the Polynesian concierge and would rather not go to WDW if we could not stay at the Poly con. Staying at the Poly adds complete feeling of relaxation to our trip.

Thanks for all of the positive comments, everyone :sunny: 68 more days till our trip! :teeth:

Mister Disney - glad to hear you like GF RPC, we are doing our 1st "family" trip and chose to stay there, hoping it will be as lovely as it sounds :goodvibes Concierge just seems as if it will make the trip a special vacation, as the benefits of it remove a lot of stress it seems Have fun :flower:

just got back from Boardwalk inn Concierge. I have to say that it really comes in handy if you like to eat and have little kids. we could always get something if we needed it. The service was excellent. I would definitely spend the extra money to do concierge.

We've never stayed concierge...I always reasoned that it would be "wasted" money for our needs, but I think our next trip will be concierge anyway, just to have that experience and appreciate what you all are talking about!

SeaSpray, woo hoo for you and your family! :jumping1:

am doing concierge at the poly for the first time next week , this ia a special trip cause my birthday is may 5th lol am not turning 50 only will be 31 but really wanted to do something special for my birthday :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I am just thrilled to be staying at the Grand Floridian Main Building Concierge. I have to wait til Dec (that is the only bad part, although I get to stay at WL in Oct). I have heard good things and bad things, but I just can't wait to have the best vacation. I'm at Disney, I don't think anything could be bad. Reading this post and the great attitude everyone has makes me so happy about my decision. :)

Oh I hope you have the best trip ever! I hope every day is better than the previous one (it will...it is WDW!). Please have some very decadent dessert for me from your private lounge....if you could have a nice hot cup of tea while reading a book as well...that would just be the cat's meow!

I also love staying concierge and think it is well worth the extra $. I've stayed at the Poly GV concierge (July 2003) and CR 12th floor (October 2004). I booked a room at YC Concierge for August a couple of months ago. Today, I'm even happier to be staying concierge than ever because I'M PREGNANT! I'm already looking forward to the snacks and a more relaxing vacation. Oh, I wish I had some yummy snacks sitting out right now.

Well HoopDeDoo! I hope to be able to say those words someday- maybe next year!! Enjoy!! :cool1:

Seaspray - You're going to have such a great time!!

I just had to respond to your original comment about just being happy to go and stay concierge!

We stayed at Poly concierge last October. If I were to sit down and think about it, we had quite a bit actually go wrong. We stayed for seven nights, I was sick one night, our one son got sick one afternoon and was sick into the next day, we had rain, and we had problems with getting a room on our drive down there.

But, you know what, whenever any of us talks about our trip we have nothing but positive memories and thoughts. :cool1: We were just so thrilled to be able to go and felt so lucky that we were able to stay concierge that any bad memories have just been put to the back burner.

We have ressies for next October and hopefully it will be just as wonderful as last October!

Have a wonderful time and enjoy every minute of the concierge pampering!!!

I am planning a trip to Disney in mid-June staying at the Poly with 3 elementary ages children. We purchased the dining plan option. Do you think that would be a better plan with small kids than the concierge level?

I would price both ways and weigh the options for your own family.

One nice thing about concierge is that you can take stuff back to your room. And they have some things, like peanut-butter-and-jelly uncrustables" that are packaged and are perfect for kids who wants something later.

We have always found that concierge works better for us because we don't always have "meals" (sit-down or counter service) and find that we all end up finding something we like at the concierge lounge.

Good luck deciding!!!

I think it depends on your children's eating habits. My kids are grazers rather than big meal eaters, especially in the summer heat. I find that they do better with access to the concierge offerings in the evening than feeding them another meal of chicken nuggets and french fries. My kids love fruit, veggies and dip, and cheese. We usually have a sit down lunch and then just some snacks at dinner. If they have healthy snacks at dinner and they get hungry in the evening we usually get some ice cream. The meal plan will give you more food and it will be cheaper. However, we stay concierge for the convenience and the healthier choices and, of course, the Concierge staff.

While I've done both and found each really great in its own way, I have to say that perhaps the way Wendy does it (with a sit down lunch and some light snacks from the lounge later) it might work out, but for the difference in price either way I think you'd get more for your money foodwise with the Dining Plan.

Concierge breakfast is always nice and convenient, but would you feel you would have to be at the resort between 5-7pm when the food is out to "get your money's worth"? If so, that can put an added strain on your touring plans. With the dining plan you can eat wherever you want, whenever you want (for the most part) and not have to worry about getting back to have "dinner", LOL. And though I agree the cheese and veggies are nice, after a while you want something else. :faint:

OTOH, with the dining plan there is a lot of food and the offerings aren't always the healthiest. But if you're paying just the $10 each for your children then it's money well spent IMO (it's also a great deal for the adults). It is fun to go to a variety of different restaurants and not have to worry about what the bill will be. :goodvibes

So yes, I do think the dining plan would be a better option for food. Enjoy your trip whatever you decide. :wizard:

I'm *bumping* up my own thread because I think I had forgotten what I wrote ;) I am feeling better about our decision to stay at the Polynesian concierge, I don't know why the other thread struck me the way it did. I am fully confident that we will have a great concierge experience. And you know what.... in the end, if we do encounter less than great service, then it's not the end of the world! I usually keep things in perspective, and I lost perspective last night. Today, I am happy again just to know I have a happy healthy family, and that WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :sunny:
