or dare I say, "obssessed"! Ever since my husband surprised me on my birthday a few weeks ago by telling me he was taking us all on a Disney Cruise in January, I've spent endless hours going over these posts time and time again as well as trying to come up with some pertinent (senseable) questions to ask.

It's as bad as getting hooked on eBay! Last night my husband suggested I quit visiting this site for fear that I'd become sick of the whole trip before we even left!

Anyone else addicted to this site?

Debbiebones, you are not alone!! My DH and I take turns being, "obsessed," with this site. Although, I don't think I could become sick of the trip before we left. If anything it gets me more excited!!

Have a blast on your cruise!!:earsgirl:

Yes, I'm addicted also! And we're also cruising in January. We're going on the 1/18 Western Caribbean. I find myself checking the discussions about 3 times a day! We're also going to WDW so I'm also checking the resorts and dining discussions. I've learned so much! A week or so ago I decided I should "back off" and not monitor it so much because I was thinking about the vacation too much and it's still 5 months away. Wouldn't you know that on that day I learned about the cruise credit for first time cruisers (and immediately called my TA) and also learned that the fees for passport applications were going up on 8/19. That was justification enough for me to continue to "heavily monitor" these discussions. I've always thought that anticipation is 50% of the fun of a trip and this is a fun and helpful form of anticipation.

Ipursell, what exactly is the cruise credit for first time cruisers? Is this for first time cruisers with Disney? We booked through Costco so I'm wondering if we're eligible.

We're on the Eastern 7 day leaving Jan 25th. Thanks in advance for any help!

Deb

Deb, first time cruisers with Disney get a $50 per stateroom credit voucher. Use code REF. Here is a thread that might help you:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=248975

I don't know how it works with Costo but start with them. If you don't get any satisfaction try calling DCL.

My TA was a little irratated that they didn't mention it when we booked. I personally doubt if you get the credit if you don't ask. She said there will be a coupon in the stateroom showing a $50 onboard credit.

thanks Linda, I'll definitely check it out. Now I can justify MY constant reading of the posts!

Have a great cruise!

I habitually check my thread on this board every day, and have made several hundred posts in the last few months. I'd say that's an addiction. ;)

I find that I spend tons of time here right when I first make my ressies, and also the last few weeks before the trip. I don't usually spend much time on the boards after vacation because it is too depressing! But once another trip is in the works, back I come!

We sail in less than 2 months, so I am here constantly now. The thread I started for our DIS group is very active and we have a great group of people getting together on board, so we are all very actively chatting back and forth every day.

I am *so* bad. I've been an INTERCOT member for a year or so, but this year we decided to plan for a cruise and a wedding. Someone over there suggested these boards to me and I'm *so* glad that they did.

The boards here on those two topics are much more active. I find myself stopping here first before I cruise on over for my daily INTERCOT fix.:smooth:

I think if anything, reading this board all the time makes me MORE excited for my trip. What will I do AFTER our cruise. It won't be half as much fun to be obsessed with this board. It'll be depressing. I'll just have to book another cruise!!

I'm a travel agent, and I've hooked a couple of the other agents in the office, too. I'll look over and catch one of them reading something while we are working.... It's pretty funny!

Count me in as well! I check the boards approximately 3 times a day because I don't want to miss out on some of the great questions and ideas people have. I am one of those "planners" who makes lists upon lists and has to make sure everything is perfect. Let me just expand on the initial question and ask what I'm fearing most. How do you deal with not visiting the boards after your trip is over??!! We are saving up for this trip in nine months but after that we have other projects that will not allow us to splurge on Disney trips for several years. I'm going to have to go cold turkey which is NOT going to be pretty!
HHHEEELLLLLLPPPPPP!!

I'm hooked too! I began as a lurker when I discovered these boards about a month before our first cruise in July. My DD started complaining that "Mommy's obsessed" every time she saw me scanning the boards. But I'm convinced that the useful info I found here really made our trip more enjoyable.

DH (and I) wondered if I would still be addicted AFTER the cruise, and I'm sorry (?) to admit that I am... Now I can (occasionally) help answer other people's questions, and that's fun too... But I think I may be moving on to the resorts and theme parks boards soon--we're taking our first trip to WDW in more than 7 years in October, so I'm sure there'll be lots of news to catch up on there. Still, I'm already dreaming about our NEXT cruise, so I'll have to keep coming back here too...

ME!!! But... I consider it such a valuable obsession because I learned about the AMEX package and saved $250.00 +, learned of the passport increase and saved my family $100.00 of fees, learned where I could get the least expensive passport pictures and saved $22.00, learned a code for Radisson and saved $30.00 and picked up so many PRICELESS tips from all of you that I feel like I will be as prepare for anything as a person who has done 5 cruises on my first cruise. I would be lost without all of you!

Obsession maybe, necessity... definitely!

and he may be right! Although I suspect once school starts I won't have as much time. I do have the auto notification on threads I'm part of sent to my work email so I'll probably still be checking in as those hit!:bounce:

Where else can you find such a bunch of thoughtful, nice and sweet group of folks - this world needs more of this type of folks -if there is a problem- someone tries to find the answers - if someone has a joy, it is shared around the world on this board, if there is saddness, everyone offers a heart full of love and as with sweets, yes you do get addicted ----------kindness pays off and it shows each time I visit this board.

Obsessed? No not me. I would know it if I had a problem. Wouldn't I? I can stop reading these boards any time I want to... But I don't want to.

I neglect my house keeping for these boards, but that's not something I mind in the least.

This board is a new obsession, but these boards in general have been a part of my life for almost 3 years now. I've made friends here and consider this place to be a wonderful part of my life. :D

My DH is convinced that I am having an online affair or something as much as I check these boards LOL Good to keep him guessing...;)

Count me in among the addicted.

My cruise is 98 days away and I cannot stop thinking about it. These boards are like fuel for the fire.

There is no shame in being addicted!
I am addicted to these boards and addicted to Disney cruising too...there is no way I could ever become tired of either one. It's a great way to socialize with fellow fanatics, and I also love it when we get a chance to meet people in person. My co-workers think I am insane for meeting up with people from the internet, but they are probably picturing some shady chatroom. I think that Disney people are the best...I know that there could be "pretenders," but overall this is a great community and I love meeting people both online, on the ship, and sometimes even at home. I think these boards do a great service for first-time cruisers too. Some boards and groups that I have seen online are very clique-ish and not at all welcoming to newbies. But on DIS, everyone is welcome and there is always someone ready to jump in with an answer. I am constantly referring people from my website to these boards (or to Dave's site!) when they have a question I cannot answer...I know they will be warmly welcomed. If this is an addiction, then I'm all for it!!
