My son's allergist always recommends he start his allergy medicine in the beginning of March - before his symptoms start. Boy has that helped he is not nearly as bad as he used to be. Allergies stink. I feel for you.
Achoo, Achoo, cough, cough, wheeze. Did someone say allergies? I can hardly go out of the house without my eyes puffing up, I need to get to the doctor for a new prescription. Feel better, you're not alone.
The pollen count here is rated "Extremely High" for the second day this year. ("Extremely High" is 120 particles per cubic meter or more, and we are at 392 today.)
Something must have bloomed overnight, because we have been in the low and moderate ranges over the last couple of weeks.
My Dh has terrible allergies to pollen. He always sneezes constantly, has a runny nose, and watery eyes from about March-the end of May or so. It makes me miserable just listening to him and watching him. He is currently taking Claritan but I am not sure how much it is helping since he just started taking it a couple of days ago.
Here in Texas, we have allergy issues all year round... but yes, with the trees blooming in the last month, my asthma and allergies have gone straight downhill, and I've already made one ER visit this season. Nothing I'm on or can get my hands on seems to work, so we're going to talk next week about allergy shots =(
Mine started earlier this week, but just got worse today, but not nearly as bad as I've had in the past. My problem is I don't know what I'm allergic to--just something in the spring. Right now, my problems are just a really runny nose and sneezing. I had a bit of itcy eyes last night, but that's gone away. I took a Claritin-D a few hours ago and that's helping some.
I feel bad, because I think my younger son (9 months--first spring) has them too. We all started with a runny nose on Monday when we drove 3 hours to my parents' lake house. Since we came back yesterday, my older son seems to be fine. But, me and the younger one aren't. So, I gave the little guy some Benedryl, but I"m not sure it's helping yet.
Zyrtec works good for me. Nothing else has helped. non of these make me sleepy...infact I feel nothng. I just notice my eyes are not as weepy!
flonase is an anti-inflammatory for the nasal area. but they do have a liquid antihistamine called Astelin which I have used...no side effects. oh sorry, had bloody nose once.
there is also Rhinocort Aqua which is also an anti-inflammatory to stop the nasal membranes from swelling! I like this one.
