Anyone else have trouble sleeping the night before you leave?

I remember when I was a child, I'd be literally up all night so excited about leaving in the morning. My parents always told me that I needed to get to sleep (yeah riiiiight). Funny thing is I'm 36 and I'm still the same. There is no way I will sleep the night before we leave. I'm spending sleepless nights right now just thinking of all the fun things we will do when we arrive and we're 106days away. I was just wondering how many of you have the same problem (if you can call it that)?

I could always relate to that commercial on TV with that little boy that said he was too excited to sleep and then his dad said the same thing. Everyone feels like a child again. That's why Disney World is the Happiest Place On Earth. It has always been special to me.

Me too!!! And husband & kids!!!! It is soooo exciting-I always worry about FINALLY falling asleep & missing the alarm!!!!!

We are leaving Monday morning, and I know that I will probably sleep maybe 2 hours Sunday night. I figure I can close my eyes on the plane.:goodvibes The funny thing is, Monday I will not even be the least bit tired.

Why yes ... I'm having trouble right now! Which is why I'm on the computer at 1 am. Thankfully our flight isn't until late afternoon so I won't oversleep.

I NEED this vacation!!!!

Oh, it's like you were reading my mind!! I have trouble a MONTH before we leave...but that's Ok, I'm tickled to have that problem!

I never get any sleep the night before! Between being tired from staying up late to finish packing and then being so excited...lets just say I definitely need a vacation by the time I get there! I was also this way as well when I was little. I remember I would get up super early and sit outside my parents bedroom door, in the dark and cold of the morning, waiting for them to wake up so we could leave! We have 16 days left to go and the time seems to be moving slower than ever now!!

I have to sleep, if I don't the nearly 14 hour non-stop drive is horrible. Never had a problem sleeping though I am certainly excited!

since hubby INSISTS on leaving a 3AM (when we drive) you can see from the time of my post... I RARELY see 3 Am unless I am STILL UP!:rotfl: (I work weird hours)
so,, ,the night before, I pack the car with everything except the cooler. ok time for bed... at 7 or 8 pm??!!?? I'm wide awake! what did I forget? ok, feed the cats, left a note for the neighbors about the cats. pack the (whatever)? ok, don't toss and turn , hubby has to sleep, he drives. (yeah, that poor guy doesn't sleep much either. he's too excited)

oh boy, can I do it tomorrow!!???:lmao:

Oh yes! But partly because I don't pack until the night before and am up super late getting things done! Once I do get in bed, I'm so excited that I can't fall asleep. Must be the Disney magic :)

Oh yes - any trip I take, I'm this way. Both excited and running through every possible thing that could go wrong. (One of the trips I did stay awake for did have every possible thing go wrong, once we got to the airport, so I felt justified and now I sleep better)

OMG I KNOW!!! I'm leaving in the morning and I KNOW I'm not going to sleep tonight. Our flight leaves at 630 am but we have to drive to providence, RI (an hour) , park the car, grab the shuttle and go through security. So that's a wake up call of 330- 4am!!! It's ok I'll sleep on the plane!!! I'm so excited tommorrow this time I'll be eating dinner at Hollywood and Vine and then going to the Fantasmic show!!!!

Like a previous poster, I'm not sleeping now! I am soooo excited about going and my dh told me yesterday that this upcoming trip is his last??!!! UGH?!

Why can't everyone catch the magic??:confused3

I get like that too.... We are driving down with 4 kids under 9 and know that we need that sleep. We usually get 6hours.

ok, you jinxed me! 2 days to go, last night had trouble sleeping, so excited, but that is a good thing!

We usually leave around 6am to drive, it's a 6 hour drive for us to WDW. Here's is how it always goes....

I do the regular routine during the day. Take a shower, take care of the cat, sit with my mug of coffee and read the DIS boards, laundry, wait for the baby to wake up and take care of her breakfast, making sure the house is clean, making sure the mail is on hold for the week..etc.

Between 5-6 pm we have dinner, give the baby a bath and then put her down by 8pm so then I have the time to pack without interruption. I think it won't take that long but I usually end up with the packing done by 11pm ;), load up the car for the next day, sit and relax a minute and then before I know it it's around 12 am. I say ok I have got to get some sleep.

I get ready for bed then my mind goes reeling...do I have everything done? did I forget to pack something? blah blah ...it's 1 am. Lay in bed and turn on the tv because I am soooo not tired. I finally get a little sleepy, it's 2-2:30 am. Fall alseep then .....

BAM! it's 3:45 and I am wide awake. I get up and take a shower my husband wakes up and sees me ..."what the heck are you doing it's 4 in the morning? "I am getting ready to leave, duh!"

Leave at 6 am and surprisingly enough I am not the least bit tired. Ah, Disney is truly magical! :)

I always say ok this year I am not doing it like I did last year but I always do, it's become a routine and one I can actually say I look forward to :rotfl:

We always take a red-eye. Everyone asks "aren't you exhausted when you get there?" but since I never sleep the night before anyway, it's really no different. Meanwhile, my husband sleeps the whole flight, so at least the trip is easy on someone!

I'm the same way too. I've been that way since I was a kid, too.
lol, the commercials of those little kids awake always reminded me of myself. I still just get too excited...and anxious.

I always have that same problem , so our last trip, this past Jan., we left at 5pm and started our drive instead of 5am. It was great, because I am so pumped up and excited the night before I can NEVER sleep:laughing: We drove 7 hours, to Kingsland
Ga, 3 miles from the FL line and arrived at 12:30am. Got to the room exhausted from the drive and all the energy we used up while driving/singing/playing in the car and we all fell asleep right away:):):)

Got up at 8am fully refreshed and ready for vacaion! Grabbed a quick breakfast, and a couple of minutes later we crossed the FL. line and had a quick , relaxing 3 hour drive to Orlando. It was perfect for us ~ since we don't sleep well the night before at home ;)

In 20 days we're supposed to leave at 4am, and drive the whole way, arriving by 4pm, but I'm really concerned about not sleeping the night before and being tired and mainly just not feeling well. We may just do what we did in Jan., because it worked so well!

We tried spending the night before in a hotel close to the airport, in hopes that a "good night sleep" the night before would help with the 4am wakeup call. Well, NONE of us slept because we were too excited and in a different place. This year, we are sleeping at home and waking up at 3am to get to the airport. That way I can toss and turn in my own bed humming "its a small world" all night... instead of in a hotel room with my kids giggling all night! ;)

99 days until my sleepless night! I can NOT wait!:yay:
