I hate this!

We have a great trip planned for July for WDW and I can't share it with ANYONE except DH, the kids, and you guys!

Once I start telling any family members they're going to come up with comments such as the famous, "You're going to Disney again?" "Do you really think you should go in your condition?" "It's going to be awfully hot then." "Shouldn't you be concentrating on paying your medical bills and not a vacation?" ad nauseum. :furious:

ARGH! Not ONE of them will say. GREAT! What's wonderful. You deserve it! Have a beautiful time. We know how happy that must make you.

Sorry to vent, but I know you understand how it is. Sad.

Vent over, I'm just having a bad day.:(

I am with you on this. We booked an impromptu trip for August (couldn't pass on the free dining)! But we are in the process of building a new house. I know if we tell the family, they will be all over us saying things like "don't you think you should put that money towards the house, blah, blah, blah". It is pretty sad to be 34 years old, and still be afraid of what the parents think!

How about the "How much is your trip?" question! Not only do they think I'm crazy for doing the Disney thing all the time, I spend a good amount of money while I'm at it! Hey! I'm disciplined and plan my Disney trips precisely! Did I ask you to pay for it??? NO! (Okay, well I do get Grandpa to chip in a little somethin', somethin'... Isn't that what Grandpas do?)

I said all that to say, I feel ya! Gotta keep it TOP SECRET sometimes!

I know.....DH and I go every year - and we don't even have any kids! Our friends think we are nuts! O well...some people just don't get it! ;)

I know how you feel. I only talk to my best friend about our trips. No one else is ever interested and they all think we are crazy to go so many times.

Beth :wave2:
I think it is great that you're going, and hope you have a wonderful time!! :teeth:

DH and I have a 3 night Disney Cruise planned for August and we just now started letting people in on it (booked last September)...people think we're nuts going on a Disney cruise without kids, but I decided I don't care what they think!!! DH and I will go to one of our favorite vacation destinations and have a great time!! Screw the rest of them!! ;)

Well Beth you can come to the DIS and just spill your trip details until your fingers wear out.

We will all listen to every word typed and the only thing you will hear here is POOR DEAR YOU HAVE TO WAIT THAT LONG.

Think of how I feel. DH and I are STILL taking out kids to Disney and the youngest is 17!!! :lmao:

When I first saw the Title of your thread, I thought you were going to WDW the beginning of June!!! :teeth:

Anyhow I think we may be related! We get the same thing....even from relatives who go to the SAME BEACH & STAY IN THE SAME BEACH HOUSE for the past 20 years! Also get it from another Family member who goes to Vegas 4 times a year!!!! :confused3

I think there is 4 reasons for this...
1) A bit of jealousy....Why do we have all the Fun?
2) Most people have the 'assumption' that a WDW is terrifically expensive. Where I think it is rather one of the 'Most Bang for your Buck" places.
3) Some people, who have never been to WDW, think its this Tuity Fruity sickening wholesome, stick your finger in your dimple & twist place.
4) Maybe we Disers DO tend to talk about our Dis plans...a bit too much! :teeth:

However none of that SHUTS ME UP!!!!
To borrow our phrase and a philosophy from our friends who are visiting the beginning of June..
BE LOUD! BE PROUD! BE A DISER! :thumbsup2

What serendipity that you posted this today!

I should have kept my trip secret...
My parents really ticked me off yesterday - I told them about our WDW trip and they said "Awww" not like "Aww - isn't that sweet" but "Aww - isn't that a shame?". Ya know, we do have debt (who doesn't?) but I am teaching THREE extra classes in summer school and paying down debt with 2 of them. When the third class came along not THAT was found money and it was time for a reward.

I just KNEW that they wouldn't be supportive but I didn't feel like trying to hide this trip - anyway the kids would have outted us!

Family trips are something I remember so fondly from my childhood (including 2 trips to WDW back when it was JUST the MK!) and I really want to share those experiences with my kids and I WILL!

So - more DIS time for me!

Count me in... I'm sure glad I'm not alone! I've been planning my June trip since at least February & have yet to tell anyone but you guys & some co-workers (I had to ask for the time off after all!)... I plan on 'breaking' the news to my Mom on Wednesday... Ugh I dread the "comments" ... she will never understand! ;)

Thank you thank you! Where else can I tell me we got Le Cellier ADR's and we're celebrating DS's 7th birthday with lunch at WCC AND dinner at Chef Mickey's!! Who else kknows what ADR's are? Along with DDP, RNR, POP, and so many more!!

Beth,

Have a wonderful time. You deserve to get away to the happiest place on earth. Just ignore everyone else and only talk to us.

Of course, I'm not jealous of your trip, we are already booked for our usual November trip. :rotfl2:

There are a couple of people I work w/ who get the whole WDW thing. But other than that DH's family doesn't get it although how could they being that they go to the same place in Fla every year for the past 30 some odd years and stay at the same hotel every year. I guess they expect us to do what they want to do. My parents could really get into it if they would just book a trip already. They are dying to take the grandkids and stay at AKL but they've opted to go to Australia for 3 weeks. Can't blame them for that. What I'm trying to say is that I feel your pain but who cares if they get it or not. ;)
