I was doing the laundry this morning and complaining up a blue streak about my family's habit of taking their socks and clothes off inside out - and tossing them like that in the laundry basket. This creates a lot of extra work for me.

Then - *lol* - I reached in the basket and found a pair of my socks and a sweater, you guessed it - turned inside out. Somehow I reasoned that this was ok - because I was doing the laundry anyways.:o

LOL!
I was the laundry as-is. If they leave their socks balled up and don't get clean that's their fault!

Yes that is me too. I think that is justified as it is you using your time & energy to do the laundry. I do make my daughter turn her things right side to.

The inside out thing doesn't bother me, but the balled up socks do. I also wash as is. That includes never checking pockets anymore. Whatever money I find is all mine. :D

I'm so glad I have my DH trained to take his clothes off properly for the washing and drying process!! :D

I'm mean. I wash things that are ready for the wash. If zippers aren't zipped, etc. Then I leave it dirty til it is done. The message got across when clean clothes were running short.

With a thread titled "Anyone else have this twisted reasoning" posted by you.....I was very afraid to open it....:p

Yes! DH NEVER turns his socks back right side out after he takes them off. I found a simple solution though.....I make him fold his socks most of the them.:smooth:

I'm another "washer as iser". Including things in pockets. If items get lost in the laundry because they didn't take them out of their pockets - not my fault! I have learned that hard way regarding this but I don't have time some weeks to even do laundry so the last thing I have time to do is go through everyone's pockets.

Yep, that's me!! lol

But, I can't complain because I'm just happy my 2 oldest can take their clothes off on their own! (They are 6 and 4). My dh, on the other hand.....

No, I never do that, Pam.;) If you believe that, then you might believe that I'm the one calling you on the telephone right now.;) ring ring

I never used to check pockets and still sometimes forget. However, I really learnt my lesson when my son left some chocolates in one of his pockets. Not only did I do the washing, I also put everything through the tumble-dryer. You can imagine the mess that made!

Original point - completely reasonable thinking.

nope, it's not twisted. I always complain to DH to put his clothes in the laundry basket and he says "well... your stuff is laying around" and always come back with "well... I pick it up all the time anyway so it doesn't matter".

The inside out thing doesn't bother me - it just gets washed (and sometimes if I'm lazy) folded that way. What is worse to me is when DH wears two shirt, and takes them off together, so one is still inside the other in the laundry...uugghh!!

I agree with your thinking altogether. I can turn my clothing right side out when I take them off, or when I sort the laundry, either way, it's my clothes. I should never have to turn anyone elses clothes right side out, or un-ball nasty sweat socks. They go through my wash cycle as-is. I also keep all money I find in the pockets. That was pretty lucrative when my girls were both in high school and working. Lots of 10's and 20's in pockets. They learned to use a purse. Stephen never leaves anything in his pockets. And he turns all his clothes right side out.

A couple of years ago my DD left a red lipstick in the pocket of her shorts!:( Went and stained everything - and of course it was the first load of clothes from our WDW and Cruise vacation. Everything had red streaks - all our souvenir t-shirts, etc. and of course they were all new clothes for vacation!!:(

Needless to say, I was furious! We got on the internet and on the recommendation of some posters at a stain site, I bought some Zout, which did the trick - 4 bottles later!

I do confess to taking the money, too!;)

I just throw the entire load into the washing machine...If it's inside out, I guess i'll fix it when it comes out of the dryer..:jester:

Boy I have a better one, dh likes to just pull up his dress shirts when he takes them off, it takes too long to unbutton them you know?? so they come out of the dryer all buttoned up and they get hung in the closet like that, he HATES that but yet he won't stop doing it. I won't be unbuttoning the darn shirts!

I'm like that about a lot of things around the house. If they leave dishes in the sink I complain, but I can leave them there if I want. Because I am the one who will be cleaning them up, not them. If they leave them there, you better believe they aren't coming back later to do the job! ;) Same thing goes for shoes, clothes, and clutter. I will ask them to pick theirs up yet mine may sit there, depending on my mood. Well, it's not like I'm asking them to pick up after ME! ;) Nobody here undertands this. Oh well....
