We were supposed to go to the Shelburne Murray Hill in NYC today but they have no power because of the blackout. Member services will get back to us after they speak to their contact at the Shelburne as to what happens to our points, whether the whole weekend is cancelled, or what happens if the Shelburne gets power but we can't get there.

Anyone else ever in a situation where the hotel could not accomodate you for some reason? Do they just cancel the day or the whole reservation? What happened to the points? They said they would refund our $95 fee. Problem is we have Broadway tickets for tomorrow night (if Broadway is running?). Ughhhhhhhh...............

Thanks,

Maryann

This is a catastrophic situation so it's tough to say how they'll handle it. My guess is that MS and the Shelburne will work out something to your satisfaction. The Broadway theater will also probably work out something with you. They may or may not have power in time for your performance. There is still extremely limited service into NYC from many areas. I'm sure they'll be flexible.

Sorry to hear your plans were ruined. On the bright side, you weren't there last night. ;)

You should have no trouble getting into the city from Long Island. My BIL has been back a forth several times since the blackout. He said traffic was light.

If the power is back on (it should be by tomorrow) you won't get a refund for the theater tickets, so you may as well go. The hotel is another matter. I'd push to get the whole thing cancelled and get the points back. Plan another weekend and see another show.

Good luck.

Just heard Broadway shows will all be up and running tonight!

Member services called after they checked with the Shelburne and cancelled our ressies and refunded our $95 with no problem. They even returned our points to prebooking status. We then were able to book one night in Oct. and bank the extra points. We do plan on going into Manhattan for dinner and the play tonight anyway.

Thanks,

Mrs. G
