Anyone else have problems w/cysts?

Right before we left for WDW for our wedding I went to the Dr. I HATE going to the Dr!! I am always nauseaus, get fevers, and can't stand any pressure on my stomach. My Dr. said it is a cyst on my ovary. I had never heard of that, but I work w/all men...so I don't talk to them about female things !! I also have a cyst on my thyroid!! Now I take synthroid daily for that... I feel like the older I get, I'm just falling apart. Am I the only one that feels like that? I had to have surgery to repair the muscles after giving birth to ds last year and was off work for 3 months. Fully paid thank god!! She said we can remove the ovary, we can remove the thyroid... I just feel like I'm too young for all these surgeries!

I have multiple large cysts on both ovaries, but I am too young to have them removed and I wouldn't anyway. I've just learned to live with them. Thyroid is another thing though, I don't know anything about that.

I have had my thyroid removed due to a cyst on it. The cyst turned out to be cancerous.

I have had four excisional breast biopsies due to "cysts" (well, really they are fibroadenomas). So far, my ovaries seem to be holding up.

I know how you feel. I feel like my body is one of those horrible American cars like a Buick or Chevy or something where all the knobs are falling off. Why couldn't I get a Toyota body??

removal of the ovary for the cyst is very drastic - you can just have the cyst removed. I just had surgery in May to do just that and the cyst was the size of a lemon. Is your doctor a specialist in this area? If not, I would go to one who would know how to do this.

Just a little FYI for ya, Vitamin E can help a cyst on the ovary. Natural Vitamin E is a very very strong antitoxin and is used to treat cysts of all kinds. My wife has been taking it for a few years now and has had no new problems. Give it a try .......... hope it helps you.

I'm only 31 and have a history of ovarian cysts and endo. They can be pretty painful and cause all sorts of problems. I see a surgeon next Monday because I'm having problems with my right one again - I'm hoping they just take it out. Birth control pills will help control cysts.

Had cyst on my ovaries. Yes, avoid caffeine, it will help. Of course it won't make it go away.
I had an excruciating pain one night, it felt like a labor pain. Went up to go to the bathroom and felt something come out...sorry if TMI.
At any rate it looked like a blood clot. Very large, about 1 pound I would guess.(had what looked like fat around it)
Scared the crap out my DH. Doctor said it was normal, sometimes happens, nothing to worry about.
I don't know how old you are, but I will be 44 in July. I am definately falling apart! I am thyroid meds due to low thyroid. So, yep, we all start to go to pieces!

Your doctor said this is normal???? Normal??? OMG!!! Just reading this scared the daylights out of me.

I go to an Ear Nost and Throat specialist for my thyroid and he has done a biopsy 3 or 4 times... basically when it starts to increase in size and bother me.

My family Dr. is a female. I was so grateful to finally find a Dr. I am comfortable with. She is probably early 30s and very comfortable to talk to. Total sweetheart. She use to be OB/GYN but no longer delivers... she does all the female annuals and everything. She usually refers me to a specialist so we'll see... thank you for all the advice and tips. I do appreciate it!

I know about cysts all too well!

I was born with a cyst the size of an orange on my ovary. They had to remove my right ovary to take it out. Was flown to another hospital right after being born to have it done.

Since then I have had mutiple cysts on my left ovary. LUCKILY they all seem to end up rupturing on their own. I have not have one in a while that I can tell. Normally I can feel the pain from the esp when they rupture. That sure beats loosing my other ovary though.

I have never heard of a cyst being expelled like that. Did you talk to your OB/GYN or your regular doctor? I had something like that one time, and although it was never confirmed by blood or urine test, I was told it was probably a miscarriage. I was having other pregnancy-like symptoms (sore BB's, exhaustion) at the time, and had been spotting for weeks before the "event" like you described above. Sorry if this is TMI.

i had a cyst on my ovary about 2 & 1/2 years ago it was uncomfortable, it was also putting pressure on my kidneys so i was getting kidney & tract infections constantly which is how i found out i had the cyst. my best advise would be know your options. i used hormones & bc due to my age, to shrink mine over time but it had huge side effects my blood pressure went up, i gained weight, etc. had i known what i know now i would have looked into alternative/natural options. im still working on getting healthy & getting my body back to normal from the hormones & bc. best wishes linda.

When I was pregnant with my DD5 I started to have horrible pain on a Saturday night when I was about 4 months along. Rushed me to the emergnecy room and the doctors there told me I had a tumor, I needed to remove it, have a complete hesterectomy and terminate the pregnancy. WTH???? We were scared and confused. This was my DH first baby. They told me I had the option to go to the university hospital for treatment. Knowing they had the best oncology department we decided to do that. Good thing. They examed me and told me 1) we don't think you have cancer and 2) if you did we wouldn't terminate the pregnancy. Whew. Ends up being a grapefruit size cyst. Not sure how long I had it but it was the kind that had like hair and fingernails in it....gross. The uterus had grown enough to put extreme pressure on it and twisted my ovary around. They had to remove the ovary too. That's why I joke if I get my tubes tied it should be half price. It was scary but turned out great.

I was around 23 when I started having severe pains. I went to the doctor & was told it was an ovarian cyst. Yes, caffiene can make them worse. The doctor explained that everyone forms a cyst in their ovary each month and it usually bursts on its own either before or when the cycle starts (it's been too long so I don't remember which it is.) He put me on birth control pills to control them and it was so much better!!! I tried going off them but the cysts enlarged again so I just gave up & got back on them.

don't either - seriously, cysts don't get expelled, do they? Don't they just burst? I don't see how it could get out that way...I mean, think about the physiology...

Anyway, what the PP is describing is EXACTLY what happened to me when I miscarried.

Three years ago this month I began having a lot of female issues. Flooding like crazy. After many months with a bad doctor, one exploratory surgery and no solution I switched to a fabulous doc who removed a grapefruit sized "fibroid" from my uterus. A week later I found out it wasn't a fibroid, but a cancerous tumor. I had a total hysterectomy and luckily came through with flying colors. No need for chemo or radiation and I'm still kickin' today!

WOW!! I am glad you got a good doc that took care of you. That is scary stuff! Hope everything is ok

I just can't see how something that is about 1 pound is considered "normal" by the doctor. I agree, the physiology of it all doesn't make sense. Was this, perhaps, after giving birth? Large clots aren't uncommon immediately after birth. Now that, I may understand.
