feel guilty?????

I admit I do. I feel guilty for being able to enjoy a day with food, drink, and friends while others in NO and surrounding areas have NOTHING!!!! I feel guilty everytime I flush the toilet and know that some people have not been able to drink for 5 days. I feel guilty everytime I open the fridge or cupboard because there are people who have NOTHING to eat!!!! I feel sad because of the dead and missing people and the families left behind.

Does anyone else feel this way???

Sorry, I just had to get this out of my system. This situation just weighs heavily on my mind.

Sure, we all feel that way. I think it happens every time there is some type of disaster. Just do what you can for the victims and remember that it's not wrong to enjoy your blessings, as long as you also remember to count them.

I think it's so very natural to feel this way, and there's no way I believe you're alone in your feelings. It shows the empathy and compassion you have for your fellow human beings, and those are good qualities to have. It's very easy to say that life goes on (and it certainly does and must), but sometimes it's hard to put that statement into practice when we're witness to such tragedy.

I remember feeling the same way at Christmas after September 11. I just couldn't get into decorating, celebrating or sharing good times with friends and family with all the anguish people were experiencing. It just felt so wrong.

Katrina is a tragedy of such imense magnitude--I'd be more concerned for you if you said you *didn't* care.
