Anyone else have kids with eczema?

My daughter has had mild eczema since she was little....

She gets it behind her knees and in the bend of her arm...

I would defeinately get the note because many people don't recognize it as non-contagious. (my daughter was asked to leave her dance class one week during a flare-up because they were certain it was pin-worm's) :sad2:

I tried to explain it to them but they wanted a doctor's note to return.

BTW Eucerin does seem to help her....

My DD(soon to be 9) has eczema. We've done all the creams and ointments, but nothing really helps. We use Cetaphil soap, but I haven't tried the lotion. Last year, we started Chiropractic care. I noticed on my chiropractors wall a poster that said the chiropractic can help skin conditions. I discussed it with my chiropractor and she explained that misallignments in the spine can cause pressure on the nerves and can aggravate eczema. We started adjustments and the back of her legs are much better. Her fingers haven't really shone much improvement though. I talked to another mother who had her child in chiropractic care for eczema and she looked great. She no longer uses any medicines at all. I know this might not be for everyone, most chiropractors think doctors are out to kill us! ;) But I personally think that there can be a "Happy" medium in there some place using a doctors care, and a chiropractor. Then when I see the above announcement about Elidel, It just makes me sick. We've tried all these creams and it's always made me nervous that something billed as "safe" could really cause major harm to my child.
If anyone else has used this type of treatment, I would love to hear about it.
We cruised DCL in '02 and I never even thought of DD's eczema being an issue. DCL never even noticed that I remembered.

We have. My DD is allerigc to-wheat, soy, corn, peanuts, grass, trees, pollen, feathers, dust, mold, ragweed, weeds, dogs, cats.

Finally got around to calling DCL today. They are mailing me forms to have the doctor fill out. The CM I talked to said even with the form it will be up to the staff in the clubs and nursery and possible up to the dr on board as to weather or not kids are allowed in. Not exactly the answer I was hoping for. I have enjoyed reading everyone's tips for dealing with eczema. I am going to try them out. It is interesting about the allergies. Could be a factor. I will have to ask ped. about it.

Ooh, here's another thought I had...particularly to avoid flare-ups onboard...

We always bring along a quilt or blanket from home to lay down over a bed in a hotel. We just pull the covers down and lay this on top of the flat sheet so our little ones' faces aren't pressed against a 'strange' sheet when they sleep.

We wash our stuff with Cheer Free (I never thought to rinse twice, though), but I have no idea what kinds of chemicals hotels and cruiselines must use to get these things clean. I figure it's pretty harsh stuff, though...

Anyway, we always cover the beds to avoid any flare-ups on vacation. You might just want to bring an extra flat sheet from home to lay down....since packing space is at such a premium.
