Flu.
At least that is what it sounds like. High fever, chills, fever lasts 4-5 days. Little to no respiratory symptoms.
By the way, a tepid bath (luke warm - not cold but not hot) will bring down fever almost as much as the Advil/Tylenol. All they have to do is get in the water long enough to get wet (don't wet the hair). then they can get out - blot them dry (don't rub) and put them back to bed. If they are too weak to get in the bath, you can put cool wet cloths on their legs, arms, face, neck, hands and feet (just try not to rub much).
Emergency symptoms include stiff neck, acting "confused" - altered mental status - , rash (especially with pin point red/purple dots - this is called purpura and is "bleeding"), any difficulty breathing. (if patient is difficult to arouse and respirations are high , this is an indication of respiratory distress).
Vomiting or diarrhea that is unresolved after about 1/2 day (dehydration is a complication - try to keep patient hydrated with sips of water through out the day or pop cycles, etc...).
That about covers it from memory, but always consult your doctors office - this is by no means meant to be "official medical advice"
