I acquired a new cat about a month ago, and have found that she is extremely "vocal." :) Especially in the morning, she will walk around, meowing and making other little sounds, or even just sitting she will still do it. I'll pick her up and cuddle her and she shuts up, but the minute I put her down she's back at it. She doesn't do it all day long, but just mostly mornings and sometimes later in the day. I just have to wonder what she's "saying." ;) Anybody else have a cat that likes to "talk?"

My brother has a Siamese cat that is a "talker". I think that's a characteristic of the breed though.

My cat has NO problem letting me know what's going on in her head. Particularly when she wants to be fed. My favorite, though, is the way she meows a few times right after she wakes up from a nap. It's like she's telling she's awake and ready to start some more mischief.

My cat is much more vocal since she's older. She's 11 now :sunny:

Sabrina is that way! We don't even need an alarm clock most mornings...she is up at 5:30 and wants company! :eek: Very loud meows outside the bedroom door! If the house is quiet during the day when I'm home alone, she will call out looking for me. :D

I have a Siamese, and he is very vocal. I also have a siamese mix who trys to be vocal! Half the time this cat meows, his mouth moves but no sound comes out. I have two others who meow, but make lots of other purr-y type noises when they are looking for attention. You can carry conversations on with these kitties!

My Blue-Point Siamese cat, Bailey, is certainly the talker of the household!!! :crazy: In fact, she's in my room right now howling for me to join her in the room and pet her. Of course, once I sit in my room, and cover my lap up with my bedcovers, she's right there on me and purring her head off and kneading on me. In fact, she then shuts up, only to complain again when I either stop petting her, or try to pick her up off of my lap! Yeesh! What a vocal cat she is!!!

My himalayan(sp?) Asti was quite the "talker" too......may he RIP!!

My cat, Simba, loves to talk, especially when he's sitting in the window looking outside at a squirrel or something. He'll just keep "talking" until I come over to see what he's looking at. He also "talks" when he wants to play and just about anytime he wants attention- which is all of the time!!

only when she is hungry, or when my husband walks in the room. (I think they have something going on behind my back;) )

Our Sammy never shuts up!::yes::

He's an orange tabby and they (like Siamese) are quite well known for their "chattering". My DH can actually sit and have a "conversation" with him.:D

i HAVE 2 BENGALS AND THE ONE IS VERY VOCAL, EVEN SOUNDS LIKE HE SAYS MOM. AND ONE OF MY DD'S FRIENDS NAME IS MERYL AND HE THOUGHT THE CAT SAID HIS NAME..LOL.. THE OTHER ONE ONLY GETS VOCAL WHEN HES HUNGRY...

My cat has gotten more vocal as he is getting older. After we go to bed at night he goes from room to room meowing in each one on this way to the bedroom. Then he jumps on the bed, gets right in my face and meows until I tell him just lay down!

As soon as we are up in the morning he starts talking to us until we get to the kitchen. He doesn't get anything when we get there, but he wants us in there.:confused:

LOL! So ironic that I just got on the boards and found this post. I was just having a convo with my cat about being too loud. ;) He yells and yells until he wears you down and feed him. My mom has trained him to say "Ma Ma" whenever he wants fed. It's a delightful party trick! It gets kinda old around our house, but everyone loves when we say "Bunsen, say Ma Ma" and replies right away. :) My family could just be dorky too... ;) tee hee.

We have a talkative Sammy too. She just never shuts up! When she's whiny it sounds like she's saying "NOOOOOOOOOOO". She also "clicks" at birds and squirrels outside the window, growls at us like a dog when she's mad and snorts like a bull when she wants to be left alone. She yells at me if I yell at DS to defend him. She was laying on my pregnant belly the other day and started "yelling" at the baby for kicking her! LOL

Maybe it's a female thing too? I've always had male cats before, we have one now who rarely meows, and they were never this vocal.

Our Bengal, Tigger, is pretty vocal, especially in the morning when he wants some attention He's also really vocal about wanting to play with his mousey - he likes to play fetch with it. We've had entire conversations with him about it - he meows, we meow back, then he copies whatever it was that we said.
