I am dreading going down there to hunt for Christmas decorations. I wish I had the free time to totally clean it out and organize. WORK really gets in the way of LIFE, you know?

I can completely understand! DH took the kids out today so that Santa's elves could deliver our tree ;)

It took those darn elves 1.5 hrs to get the tree and decorations out and only 30 minutes to get the darn thing up! :rotfl:

Can you send those elves to my house?? :goodvibes

I don't have a basement, but I have a serious nightmare of a garage. No kidding, it's like a bomb went off. I need to get rid of it all and install shelves, organizational stuff, but there's NO time to do stuff like that.

I have all my decorations in tubs in the basement, so I will find those easy enough, just don't look at the rest of my house. My kids think the dining room table chairs is the coat rack, and the surrounding area is the drop off point for their shoes and back packs. I have a mud room-but I guess that would be to easy.

I'll admit we are somewhat rat packers. I have roller blades, winter boots, soccer shoes, balls, toys in crates, toy boxes. Do you think my kids will ever wnt any of this stuff. No, but I still keep it.

Sure! They are non-union and their rates are negotiable :rotfl:

My garage is a nightmare, I was going to clean it out this summer but it was to hot, now it is to cold. :confused3

The playroom and office down in the basement are fine.
Half of the laundry room is fine..
The storage room, which was the original 2 car garage when the house was built(it was at basement level and was sealed up and then a garage at street level was added) is a horror show.
It's such a big space, I am SO glad to have it as storage..but ohh does it need to be organized!

Hey, when did you visit my house!?!? That's MY house you're describing! :)

No. I moved to FL: no basement, so I have a messy, unorganized garage and spare bedroom instead. :rotfl2:

Our garage is our BAD area. Our basement storage area still needs work, but our garage is a disaster. We have everything in it--lawn care stuff, bikes, toys (balls galore), stuff that was in the van that we took out, garbage cans, recycling bins, including one of the BIG ones. And a lot more.

DH's side of our basement is totally disorganized...the workbench area, with all his tools etc.

My side is pretty well-organized, although we have too much "stuff"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was... We've been spending the weekend cleaning and organizing. It's starting to look better, slowly. An hour a day can go a long way!

We have a huge basement (about 1200 sq feet unfinished) and it is quite messy. I have my areas organized but within those areas it is a disaster! The only saving grace for decorations is that I have bought corresponding Rubbermaid containers over the years. ie> red & green for Christmas stuff and orange for harvest stuff. That makes it is easy to find but you have to get past all the other stuff to find them!
Oh Well ~ on a happy note ~ my kids and I played games this weekend instead of cleaning up ~ that's what they'll remember most in the years to come! :teeth:
