My DH, God bless his little heart, is so clueless about what goes into packing this family for WDW! I had him take the kids to his parents' house last Sunday so I could pack (we leave Thursday). As he's leaving, he asked when I was coming over. When I told him I probably wasn't, he replied "what in the world are you going to do all afternoon? Packing should only take half an hour!" HA!! :rotfl:

He hasn't ever packed for anyone other than himself and apparently hasn't seen the massive lists I have all over this house. I guess if I was in his shoes and all I had to do was take my clothes out of the closet and put them in a bag, I'd be clueless too! Anyone else's DH like mine? Is there a support group for DWs like me? I can't imagine life without him, but DANG do I wish he had an idea of what I do around here!

:rotfl2:Gotta love husbands!:rotfl2:

When my DH packs he puts in at least 15 pair of underwear even if it's just for the weekend!:lmao:

He may not have anything he really needs but he's prepared for any unexpected bouts of diarreah or incontinence that might come along!

At least your DH packs extra underwear.. mine hates packing so he is always short on the basics such as underwear and socks. :rotfl: We usually end up going to a nearby mall for the items he forgot:rolleyes1 to pack because he was "busy".

I pack for all five of us, so I totally understand!!! DH has seen me in action so he knows what goes into it! Have a great trip!! :cool1:

My DH was clueless untill our trip last November. He decided to "help" me pack. I pulled out my lists. He looked at me like I was crazy and said, "are you kidding me?!"

He thought my lists and the things I packed were crazy. That is, until we were actually there. We had everything we needed and my lists were quite handy for making sure we had what we need for the Parks.

Gotta love em!!

Although sometimes I blame myself.

Why would he think it takes any work to prepare for a trip, when the Tums are sitting right there on the bedside table when he needs them at 2AM in a strange town??? When ponchos are pulled straight from the bottom of the backpack at the first hint of rain??

Yeah...I think I created the monster all by myself. :lmao:

Oh well, everytime he teases me about my lists, I just have to remind myself that I won't be spending MY vacation in WalMart!

ok...

Im a DH.... and I pack for my DW...

She is a physician and has lots on her plate everyday so... I do what I can to help things run smooth. About 3 years ago I started packing for family trips... Yes I even pack her stuff.. :scared1:

I will say that basically we have switched rolls in the family, if you believe there still are sterotypical rolls... I will say her stuff still takes double the room more then mine.. :rotfl2: and I do the packing.. :thumbsup2

Man's Club Secret: Men act clueless to get out of work.

You did not hear this from me.

My DH isn't too bad about packing. He even actually likes lists. His sisters, on the other hand, are another story. To their credit they are teenagers, but still. You give them a list of what items and how many to pack for a week long trip. What do they show up with? One had 1 bathing suit, 9 pair of pajamas, socks for 3 days (fine because we all had crocs, so don't really need socks) enough underwear for 3 weeks (who even has that much?) 10 shirts and 4 shorts. Her big sister had only 6 shirts and 2 shorts, underwear and socks for 2 weeks, no pajamas, but 5 bathing suits! Not even sure why I bothered to give their dad a packing list for them. He obviously never even checked what they packed before dropping them off for our trip!

My DH still won't accept the fact that it takes a half hour just to get the kids out to the car for a DAY trip, never mind packing! Potty, diapers, "where's my other shoe", jackets, bottles, cups, potty again...lol. Four of our kids are in car seats so that's a time sucker too. He's too much!

I pack for three of us, plus snacks, "toy box" goodies for car distractions, movies - again for the drive, and until our most recent trip also packed the dogs for THEIR trip to the doggie "motel". He normally gets up the morning we leave and tosses what he thinks looks like a good number of items into his suitcase and loads the van. Gotta give credit for that, though. I neither load nor unload the van.

The first trip to Disney with kids he had to be packed AND have the van loaded the night before since we were leaving at 6am.

I am usually asking him about four days before what he needs washed for the trip because I'm not doing laundry again before we leave. He always seems floored by this - I guess he thinks doing laundry at the last second and still getting packed and away when we plan is doable. :confused3

Your husband sounds so much like mine. i pack what we call a "toiletry bag". it has shampoo, hair spray, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc for the whole family. i also pack a medicine bag with practically an entire drug store. My DH packs a few shirts, shorts & underware. i usually pack shoes for him. he just expects me to have everything else packed because I have always done it. Once he surprised me with a week-end trip to a cabin in the mountains. He & the kids packed my clothes. i will probably always laugh at the things they packed me. I ended up with mostly dress clothes.

i pack EVERYTHING for our trips (clothes, toys, food, etc.) and while my DH isn't totally clueles, he still doesn't realize what a monumental task it is. it takes a few hours, spread over 2-3 days, with one last push right before we leave, to get everything done, and he doesn't get it, lol, oh well, he loves disney, so as long as he wants to go, i'll pack the bags.

My husband says he just pays the bills and shows up. :lmao: Which is okay because I have free reign over everything. I have my lists...he doesn't make fun of me...good place to be.

He does pack his own, but asks me if he needs to take anything special.

I take care of mine, the girls, and the "everyone" stuff.

On our honeymoon 20 years ago, DH packed ONE shirt for our week-long trip. I have packed everything since. Now DS 17 packs his own stuff and even DGS 3 pretty much packs but we never TRUST DH to help.

His job is to carry everything to the car and figure out how it will all fit!!!!

Glad to see that I'm not the only one with a pain in the neck other half!! I'm not even close to the packing part yet! I'm planning our (better late than never) Honeymoon (with some help from my sister!) I gave up with my DH trying to help with any of this pretty much right away! I think he thinks I've gone crazy! Funny thing is, I don't think he's seen my notes on just about EVERYTHING that I have for this trip.:rolleyes1
I just keep reminding him that this could quite possibly be the best trip he's ever been on and he'll have to keep thanking me for that! :lmao::lovestruc

That's my husband! He was curious about the packing list I've been working on (our trip isn't for 4 more months) and I swear his jaw practically hit the floor! :rotfl:

I'm going to be begging my parents to take the kids for a full day on either Sat or Sun so we can pack without them around!

Well this DH has always packed his own suitcase for Disney, and helped in the packing of the kids when they were to young to do it themselves. Now days, it's just the two of us that go to Disney, and I still pack my own. I also made/make sure that the DW's, kids and my own cameras were all in working order with enough film (oh so many years ago), now with the correct digital media and batteries/chargers. Between my DW and myself we decide on what time of the year we want to go to Disney, and I then call MS and make our res's for BWV. Then there's the restaurants we want to eat at. We talk about which ones, times and I call to make the ADR's.

I now step up on my soapbox!
I am far from "clueless" about what it takes to do Disney! Maybe you need to involve the "clueless" ones as to what it takes whether they want to be or not. They then might better understand what is all involved from your end, and planning stages to getting all the necessary things together for the trip and actually ask them to help. You might be surprised as to what they're willing to do.

I know this might not sit well with many of you, but don't coddle them. Make them be involved however minor to major you want them to be.
