I know there are plenty of guys who are big babies when sick, but my Dh is not one of them. He just sucks it up and goes on with his life. He even took the kids to the park one day when he was recovering from the flu! (why, I have no idea!!!)

He has stubbed his toe severely MANY times and just walks it off! He cut the tip of his thumb off one day (just the very, very tip--not below the nail or anything) and he just came in the house, started ripping tons of paper towels off the roll (always my clue that there is copious blood involved) and said "don't look".

He NEVER asks for my help when he is injured or ill. The time he had food poisoning all he asked me to do was go to the store to buy some Gatorade. I would have done more, but he didn't want me to. He fell at the ice-skating rink one time and his knee swelled up to an enormous size, but he just kept plugging along, never complaining. (also did not go to the doctor, but that's another story! Knee is fine now.)

After reading the threads on here about Dh's who are big babies when sick, I wanted to see if there were any other non-babies out there. My Dh is not a "macho man" or anything, either, so it is nothing like that. He just believes in plugging along no matter what! I guess he is actually the "abnormal" one, since the norm seems to be the "baby" behavior.

My hubby is NOT a baby when sick as long as it is a work day.....he will not miss work for anything other than a birth or a death. :thumbsup2

My DH is not a baby when sick, he goes to work, does his meetings and everything. HOWEVER! He always thinks he is having a heart attack. I am not KIDDING!!!

He once woke me up, handed me a stethoscope and asked me, "does my heart sound right?"

WTH, how they heck would I know, ,besides the fact that you JUST WOKE ME UP!!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :Pinkbounc  :cheer2: :woohoo: :rolleyes1 :bitelip: :yay: :bounce: :wave2:

Other than that, he is okay.

OMG, I love the new smilies...

My DH still appears to be the strong man that he is even when sick. If we are both sick he will take care of me before himself. He is such a great guy! Boy, do I miss him now. He is out of town on a train run.

Mine is a toughie!

He had his second elbow surgery last Tuesday and this is as down as I have ever seen him buit he hasn't complained the first time. No moaning, groaning, whining...

I wish I were that tough.

My husband is a trooper...at work, until I call him, then he's so sick and "he should have stayed home." And then when he gets home I might as well grab one of my DD's diapers and put it on him. I don't know why he's ok when he's working but get the man home and he can't lift his head off the pillow...but can work the remote :confused3

That being said he's ok with hurting himself. Does it quite often at work. Constantly cutting his head open on some machine because he forgot he was in it or under it. He comes home does a show and tell and that's the end of it.

tiggersmom2 last year when we were scheduled to have our baby DH went into work for a few hours in blizzard like conditions...moron. We were late to the hospital, I was so tempted to hurt him and just go by ambulance to the hospital...me in then New Life Center and him in the ER :lmao:

Excuse me...... :lmao: :rotfl2:

Sorry for the interruption, this question is just too funny. On with the thread. :teeth:

My DH is definitely not a baby when sick-he goes with the flow and doesn't let anything stop him... well, almost not anything.... the 2 weeks over Christmas 2004 he contracted influenza along with our 2 little girls. He kept trying to be a trooper and I had to force him to just lie down and rest since he certainly wasn't going to get any better if he kept pushing himself.... He's so great! Just waiting to see what happens after his big "V" coming up in a few months....

SO is a macho man when he is sick. He broke his back when jumping out of a plane in the army. He only took motrin for the pain!

Ok from a mans side here I had My face crushed (21) with a brick drove MC home ,broke joint at finger and hand(16),broke rib (13)and cracked the top of the ball in shoulder(38)and never took a painpill for any .Also had the BIG V done sat up and watch him do the entire thing with just a local.

now I do have to take them for my Kidney stones that i get every couple of years but other then that not even asprin.

BUT YOU GET ME with the sniffles and all is off I craw in bed and hibernate like a baby. And if DW or DD doesn't tend to my every need I'm fortunite enough to have DM around to do it.

In the 5 years I've known him I've never seen him take a sick day. I don't know that I've ever even seen him have a cold for more than a day or 2. How the heck does he do that??? :confused3

Dh doesnt act like a baby. As a matter of fact he wont even call in sick. Now if he is off he will just stay in bed.

Mine isnt - almost too far.

Last year he had a sinus infection and I could tell he wasnt right and he kept sucking it up, and acting as if nothing was wrong - until his ears were hurting so bad, he couldnt even turn his head - or lay down.

If he would have just went to the DOC sooner, it wouldnt have turned into the bad infection he ended up with. :confused3

OMG, this had me ROFL!!!

In the 27 years I've known my DH, he's almost NEVER been sick. I don't think he ever called in sick to work. It's nice to have a DH who's not a weanie, but when I get sick, I just want to curl up on the couch with a nice soft blanket and be pathetic...at least for a day. ::yes:: And then there are times when there just isn't TIME to be a sick mom!

My DH is no baby when sick, plus he won't go to the doctor when sick or injured.

DH is just like your DH. No complaining, 1 sick day off work in 17 years! I usually don't have a clue he's sick until I see him take meds or realize that 100 hankies are coming in the laundry! He's a trooper. Me...on the other hand...My DM always said, "Katy doesn't suffer in silence." I complain.

Sounds like me :) :) Seems I only get sick on weekends, so I've had like one sick day in 10 years.

My dh is a trooper, too. He's a runner and deals with a lot of injuries, so maybe that's why he deals with pain/sickness without complaining much.

He's been sick (cold/sore throat) on and off for about a month now. On Saturday, he still plans to do the annual Polar Bear Plunge into the Chesapeake Bay. Brrrrrrrrr! It makes me cold just thinking about it.
