Anyone else have a DH who insists on "fixing" everything with duct tape?

What's worse is he's a contractor, and clients are always telling me what a beautiful job he does on their homes:rolleyes: Right now in our house we have duct tape in these places:

dryer knob-it cracked in two, so of course it is now duct taped together. Howver, the duct tape didn't hold, so now DH rigged a pair of pliers to use to turn the knob

Shower- the little plastic hand hold broke off inside the shower, leaving 2 holes-they are of course, covered with duct tape

kitchen window- the cat , affectionately called "devil boy" by our kids, broke the screen to the kitchen window in half when he tried to climb it. It is now duct taped together, a truly lovely site

living room screen- same cat shredded the screen in one window. DH patched it with duct tape

I'm sure there are many other duct tape repairs around the house that I don't notice anymore because they've been there for so long:rolleyes: So anyone else live with a Duct Tape King?

Your husband must be related to mine!! ROFL
Right now, the dog house is holding up by duct tape!! Do you want to know how the dog house broke? two years ago dh decided the dog house was too heavy to move , so when he did the yard with a backhoe , he accidentally bumped into the dog house , so the top fell off, and it hasn't been fit anymore, you put it on and eventually from the dog going in and out it falls out again, so the last time he used duct tape. Hey, it's holding! :sunny:

MsKanga- they must have been separated at birth! I put my foot down on the duct taped suitcases- we had one old suitcase DH refused to throw out, he just kept putting more duct tape on it. I finally brought it to the dump- luckily it wasn't his "dump-picking day", but that's a whole 'nuther subject:rolleyes:

My husband insisted we duct tape his 50 year old canoe so it could go on another trip and wants to duct tape our garden hose as it's sprung a leak.

Not DH, but his dad. My FIL actually duct taped the crack in his foundation that was wide enough to see through to the other side! I haven't checked lately, but I think it might still be duct taped after 5+ years. I've told DH that I don't want to have to deal with their house when they are gone because it probably will be condemned!

This must go along with the old saying that "The cobbler's children go barefoot." If I were you, I'd bring in another contractor to make a quote on the repairs. That ought to get DH hopping.

Duct tape & fishing line!
I should go buy some stock in it!

But when he's not around, I hire someont to come in & do it right!;)

LOL! I can't imagine a contractor doing that!!
We have a friend who is incredibly NON handy. His solution to everything is duct tape! I might add, that thankfully, he is a bachelor! We have seen him with duct tape holding on a car window, a door knob, a faucet, a screen, a nail in a post!, a torn sleeve of an old jacket(his kennel coat), a slipper that had a loose sole! It goes on and on. It is so comical!

He loves duct tape!! I even purchased him a roll to take to college with him and there is always a roll in his car.

Six years ago, when he was a freshman in high school, he ripped the pocket of his cargo pants. The duct tape came to the rescue. He even went to church that afternoon with the duct taped pants on (later became a sermon topic!) Little did I know, the pants found their way to the wash -- the duct tape held!! Now, six years later, the pants are still going strong.

Who knew?

Must be an Irishman? LOL That's their MO. NO offense I'm one myself.

Ok this proves it is almost all men ! My husband keeps it around "just in case" .

Just in case of what????

I have gotten to where I wont tell him when we have something broken . I just rush a repair man on over while my DH is on shift , I even had the guy who fixed our clothes dryer tell me that men love duct tape LOL
BTW did you know it comes in pretty colors???

Wishing everyone a tagged night
