Just curious to know who has a birthday on or near Christmas and what you think about the proximity of the two? My birthday is about a week after Christmas and I have always wished for a summer birthday....even tried to convince my family to skip my real birthday and celebrate my half birthday (when I was younger), but they never went with that idea. Now that Christmas is over and I have received everything that I really wanted everyone wants to know what I want for my birthday....well.....I can't think of anything (except wishing for a 1/2 birthday in June....LOL), anyone else feel the same?

Yep Dec 23rd I have also wished for summer birthday. Its pretty bad when your so busy that even you forget your own birthday.

My niece's birthday is Dec. 27th (she just turned 7). She celebrates with her mom, dad & sister on her birthday, has a party with her friends sometime close to her birthday (usually right after the holidays), but the family celebrates her half birthday in late June.
Her parents were afraid that her birthday would just be part of Christmas celebrations, instead of a special time for her.

You should just tell your family I'm celebrating my half year birthday in June 2006! Then throw yourself a party.

DH's b/day is on 12/23. We celebrate his b/day and christmas separately. It is only fair to him

My DS's b-day is Dec. 14. Not too close to Christmas thankfully. His original due date was the 23rd though. I was induced so he was early. Lucky him!

My DH's b-day is Jan.13. Again not too close to Christmas but seeing as how it's after the holiday we are usually too broke and too partied out to do very much.

My SIL's b-day is Christmas Eve. Poor thing. It's always been an issue for her. People are usually too busy with pre-Christmas activities to come to a b-day party. So one year for her 40th, I planned a surprise party for her in November! She was very surprised and very happy.

Yep Jan 8 - exactly 2 weeks after Christmas. My brothers is on New Year's Eve - exactly one week after Christmas. It stinks for both of us.

No, but it is on another holiday. Hate it, hate it, hate it.!

I have 2 Grandchildren born in January, one on New Years Day and the other January 7th.. No one has any complaints yet. :flower:
DH is also January, but later in the month.

Junior's birthday was on the 23rd. We would try to celebrate it separately so that he wouldn't feel cheated.

Today is my dd's 21st birthday! :) :) :) She opened her presents from us first thing this morning and after we all got off work we took her out to dinner at the restaurant of her choice. I hope she enjoyed her birthday.

We do celebrate on her actual birthday but she's received a lot of 'combo' christmas/birthday gifts from family and friends over the years. She says that is unfair since her 'combo' gift is never any more expensive or nicer than everyone else's christmas gift (that does often appear to be true).

Mine is December 24th, and I actually like it :). I've never had to go to school or to work on my birthday, and I almost always get to spend it with some or most my family :goodvibes. And my parents were always good about making sure I got a birthday cake, birthday presents, etc. In fact my mom still does that for me, and I just turned 35! Thanks, Mom (aka KayTX  ).

My neighbor's birthday is ON Christmas. She's an older lady, but she says it's not much fun.

The sweetpea's in on the 4th.
Friend since junior high is on the 12th.
Moms is on the 21st
Best friend and her mom is on the 23rd.
Boss in on the 16th.
Friend on the 27th.
2 Cousins on the 22nd

And no wonder Im broke. And I have 3 more coming up in Jan....ugh, i need a raise.

My birthday is Monday. Jan 2.

Growing up, I always felt important, being so close to New Years. But, I think I got ONE birthday party my whole life.

Mine is...........

TODAY :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I share it with an impressive assortment of people too.....

Tiger Woods
LeBron James
Sandy Koufax
Henri Richard (hockey who won more championships [11] than anyone else)
Bo Diddley
Mike Nesmith AND Davy Jones of the Monkees
Meredith Viera
Matt Lauer
Rudyard Kipling
Del Shannon

and my cousin Anne

Mine is the 30th (an hour and a half away!) and I used to hate it but it's not that big a deal any more. I always did hate the combo gifts and felt a little ripped off by them. What I hate now is I can't take advantage of all the sales right after Christmas since I don't yet know what anybody got me for my birthday. The worst year, though was when I turned 21 and NOBODY wanted to go out since the next night was New Year's Eve.

I can't feel too bad, though, since my dad's bday is Christmas Eve!

Mine is Jan 5. When I was a kid I hated it was so close to Christmas. I used to wish they were spread out better so I wouldnt have to wait a whole year for both of them. Now that Im older it doesnt really bother me. I can fill my "free time" with my anniversary and mothers day :teeth:

Mine isn't around Christmas, but is Feb 12, Lincoln's BD and two days before Valentine's Day. The main problem is that, for some reason, somehow, I am always scheduled to be on call the weekend of my BD, and nobody will switch with me because they have a romantic getaway scheduled with their sweetie, and they fail to realize that: 1. It is my birthday, and I don't like being the only one working that day, and 2. I have a sweetie, too. Well, my coworkers don't know it yet, but, this year is a special BD for me, and my brother is wanting for us to go on a cruise with him to celebrate.

My Dad and I are both 12/28. I never really had a problem with it and never felt like I missed out.
DS was due on 12/28 too, but I had him 12/18.
