Anyone else hate for the anticipation to be over?

We're 30 days out from our 7 night Western Caribbean on the Fantasy. I am ELATED that we're so close to cruise time! But there's a little piece of me that is really going to miss looking forward to and daydreaming about the cruise. We booked last October so this has been 10 months in the making and for me the anticipation is half the fun! Guess that means we'll just have to book another cruise while onboard :hyper:

That's exactly what I was going to suggest. Book your next cruise on board. I love having something to look forward to!

I totally feel the same way as my trip approaches. So excited for the trip but slightly saddened that the pre-trip anticipation is over.

The planning stages are mini escapes for me.

I understand. I also have about a month til my Hawaiian cruise, and I booked May 2014! I've been waiting for so long a part of me won't believe it's actually happening until I'm there. But, as torturous as the waiting is... there is a weird thrill from the anticipation. It is also the dread of it all being over. I'm going to try my best to live in the moment without thinking "only x days left" while on vacation.

We are 36 days out till our Aulani/DCL cruise, I know exactly what you are talking about.
Then to make it worse my husband says in 2 months it will be over and in the books, I wanted to smack him.
Yes, booking another onboard sounds about right!

Yes, we also booked in May 2014, a long time ago........

Have a wonderful time :)

Totally normal feeling. Some people will start to mourn the end of their trip before it happens! Also a normal feeling, not to be worried about.

Yes. I just got back from Alaska and I did book another onboard but nothing in my mind will ever compare to Alaska. So I am excited to plan for the next but depressed that the spectacular experience of Alaska isn't what I am planning for. The new cruise is taking a bit of the sting away, but not much.

I agree with other posters about always having something in the planning stage. For the first time I have convinced DH is book on board - possibly for the Panama cruise for 2016. We leave in 32 days for some land travel before the WBTA. SUPER excited!!!! pixiedust::sail::cloud9::hourglass

Exactly! The cruise blues are starting now and we sail in about 15 days. It hit me at the one month mark that I no longer have to count by months. I will book a placeholder on board but I still won't have a countdown. Just a "coupon" to look forward to using.
I actual said today - 2 weeks from now I will be on my way! And 4 weeks from today I will be absolutely miserable :(

It's funny, my sister and I used to call this "pre-disney depression". Few people understand it. Glad I've found some here. I actually do a 120 day countdown on both my facebook and instagram, which I'm super excited about until I hit about 30 days...then I start to realize that in 6 weeks I'll be back to real life and waiting for my next vacation. I'm always obsessively planning my next trip at this point so I know what I have to look forward to!

I had to laugh when I read all these posts...I thought my family was the only ones who missed the anticipation of planning the trip once it was over! It is definitely part of the fun of the planning, dreaming and actually doing! Thank goodness for on board booking, it does ease the post-cruise depression (a little).

This is me, unfortunately. Something I definitely wish I didn't do!

It has been 2 years and even with other vacations including 2 other DCL trips having come and gone we still miss that Alaska adventure.

This, to me, is why DH and I never wanted to surprise our DD with the cruise. (Not tell her until we arrive at Port Canaveral, as some have successfully done.) That's great for those of you who enjoy it, but our whole family loves planning and anticipating. (Same way with our WDW vacations.)

Easy to fix: Book another cruise on another boat at a different port. You know the drill but it's a different experience to plan... Exciting!

Ours is in 31 days and I feel the same way and plan on doing a placeholder while on board.

On a similar note- whenever we go to the port and see people getting off the ship my DH and I always comment on the "sad people" getting off the ship, and how we are the " happy people" getting on. Inevitably we end up being the "sad people" getting off and watching the " happy people" getting on, awful feeling.
