Anyone else getting the appliance credit?

Our fridge has been on the way out for a long time, but recently it started melting the ice-cream and freezing the food. (I said just switch everything around, but the wife wasn't amused) We've repaired it too many times already. With the appliance credit, and a decent tax refund, we decided it was time, so we went over to the Sears Outlet yesterday. We got a great deal on the fridge we wanted, a $1500 fridge for $450 brand new, with only a few small nicks on the front. Nothing that wouldn't have happened pretty quick in our house anyway. So, once we got home my wife immediately fills out the form online for the credit, and finds out the model we bought doesn't qualify! She called Sears (they had told us it would qualify) and gave them what for, and today they called back and told us that when they deliver the fridge they are going to credit us with the amount of the refund! So a good deal got even better now we don't have to wait, or wonder if we will get our refund before the money runs out. I trust Sears more than I trust the government anyway.

For once something turned out better than expected, and cheaper! :cool1:

What appliance credit are you referring to? I have been waiting for a rebate offer. I need a refrigerator and an oven.

Thanks for any info you can give me.

I don't know if this helps, but here's the energy star website link. It makes you choose your state then gives the state's link. When you click on your state's link, it should give you all the information. (it doesn't give brands on our link....)
We're in Mississippi so our state is showing that it's starting the rebate in April.... hopefully the dishwasher doesn't die before April ! :rotfl:

Water heaters and boilers are the only appliances included in the PA rebate.

We got our $100 check today for the HE washer be bought...It was $999 but the $100 we got back is definitely better than not getting it!

We mailed our form in on 1/22 and got our rebate check today--not too bad!

You definitely do have to watch the model numbers...they really are focused on NEW models...even if they are just as efficient as last year's models...

We need to replace the fridge and buy an upright freezer. I waited for the news to come out about the credit and was beyond disappointed in our state. They are only offering it to low income.
I couldn't get the cash for clunkers since we already had a fuel economical car. I couldn't get the house credit since we have already pinched pennies and paid for our house and are still trying to finish fixing it. Now once again I am locked out of getting any bit of help. Stinks to always be froze out.

We needed to replace our dishwasher last weekend, but the rebate for them in NY is only good if you replace a whole package of appliances.

We are waiting for it to start here in TX (supposedly in April) because we need to replace our broken washer. Glad to hear that people are getting the checks in a timely manner!

Our rebate program is starting in April (maybe) but my fridge died about 1 week ago. The week before that my upright freezer went. Oh well.
