Alright, I'm going to be honest here. Every trip I've been on to WDW since 1990 - I have either brought the rainstorms with me, or I am just terribly unlucky. ;)

I hear about these "quick showers" in the summer all the time. Yet - when we go, we don't see anything "quick" about the showers (downpours). They start about noon and it pours and storms until at LEAST nightfall. And then, we trudge through puddles all night long. This happens every single day of our trip, and I'm not exaggerating. I could probably pull up Orlando's historical weather records to prove it! :rotfl:

Now, can someone else please tell me they've had this atrocious luck with WDW weather, so I don't feel like the jinx???? ;)

our trip last July was pretty much ruined by the rain. We tried to just play through it- but it was torential and constant! After one hour at AK my son said, can we please go back to our hotel and be dry?.. and this was with the ponchos, stroller covers and umbrellas! They still talk about our trip that "it rained too much" and I hope next trip is dry!

When we went in July, we ran into this. Torrential downpours you could set your watch by. Same time every afternoon, the heavens just opened wide and let loose with all they had. Most of the time, we were out at the parks and just waited it out or found an indoor activity, but once we were in the hotel food court and really wanted to go back to the room. DD was 6 at the time..... we decided to just go for it. We got DRENCHED, but we laughed soooooo hard!! :)

So .... exactly when are you going next? I want to make sure that we're not there at the same time! :rotfl2:

Actually - sounds like us and our annual camping trip. It always involves torrential rain!

Hope you have better luck this time!

When we were there in Dec 2002, it not only poured cats & dogs everyday, all day..it was also cold. We watched the water pour over the balcony of the Poly like we were behind a waterfall.

We had ponchos & covers for the strollers but every night we used the hairdryer to dry the stroller & our sneakers. We really didn't get to walk around the grounds of the Poly due to the rain so we missed out on that. We had a castle view but couldn't see it thru the rain. I didn't know that the Poly had separate buildings & then the main building. We had to run thru the rain just to get to the monorail or the restaurants. We all got sick during the trip. Our 2003 trip to the CBR was our "makeup" trip. That trip was wonderful.

We also had YEARS of rainy visits... before 2001 I think.... we always just donned ponchos and headed out. Then when the little one came along, that got pretty hard. A couple of day we couldn't even leave the hotel...WL... I think, so we would hang. The jinx for us SEEMS to have been broken. In fact, on our next to last trip, as had not a drop and as we left MK for our car to start home, it started raining! It was hysterical....and lucky! :sunny:

I picked our wedding date based on our honeymoon destination. WDW's time of the lowest attendance is also peak hurricane season. So we got rained on the first time we went, and we'll most likely get rained on again this time... :rolleyes1

I was thinking the same thing! It sounds so wonderful to hear RAIN falling outside tonight! We were at EPCOT today and actually saw lightening!

I know it's not good for the visitors, but I can hear my grass CLAPPING outside!

Yeah, I'm always puzzled when the Floridians talk about short rain fall in the afternoon. We went in August 2002 and it poured 4 of the nights we were there. I mean poured down rain for a few hours not 10 minutes :confused3 Anyways, we went back in May 2004 and the weather was much nicer rainwise. We had sprinkles but nothing like our August trip. I think, most people on the East Coast are use to rain so it isn't a big deal to them. However, coming from California where it is pretty dry in the summer it can take a bit getting use to!

The 2 times we went at the end of June it "poured" both times!!!! Needless to say I will never go at the end of June again. Last year we went down the end of August ,the only time it poured was on the day we were leaving ...about 1 hr. before we boarded our bus to the airport. Late August was much better than late June !June is their rainy season, according to the locals :sad2:

We were there at the same time! I remember walking through Epcot in water that was 6-8" deep, trying to watch the Candlelight Processional while it poured all around us as we huddled under the pavilion. We actually packed up and left a day early when we got up for the 5th day in a row and it was still pouring, and then DD got sick in the car as soon as left WDW.

Our makeup trip was March 2005 - took us 2 1/2 years to brave it again!

I'm NOT the only one! :thumbsup2

To respond to a few comments:

Feralpeg - our last trip, a CM said the same thing "I know it's not good for you tourists, but we've been having a drought and our gardens need the rain." Thanks, that helped. ;)

Our next trip is July 15-22 - I warn you ahead of time, if this is when YOU'RE going, bring umbrellas and galoshes. :rotfl:

We have gone every month from May to August and endured these torrential rainstorms, so who knows what the rhyme or reason is - I think it's just US. ;)

Maybe, just maybe, since this will be our last WDW trip for some time, we will see some dry weather - but I'm not counting on it. :teeth:

Last 3 trips, 1 day rain each, that's it! 2 of those were MArch trips,1 was Sept.

Every time I go I bring a tropical storm or a hurricane. :guilty:

I'm sorry for your bad luck but please don't come to New Orleans during hurricane season! :)

So, for those of you who bring rain and storms with you, like I do - have you learned to love it, learned to live with it, or do you mutter under your breath "why???????" ;)

I gotta admit, I used to say things like "it's not so bad" or "the parks are less crowded". :)

Then after a while I'd say "well, we can always go shopping or back to the room". ;)

Now, I'm entering the muttering under my breath category. Just once, I'd like to experience the quick showers. I'm tired of being the WDW Rain Queen. ;)

I can't even pretend to have a positive attitude about it. There's usually just a quick downpour each day but I've had trips that were completely rained out. I get caught in at least one downpour every trip and my poncho is always back in the hotel room :rotfl:.

During my last trip I bought a wide brimmed bucket hat to protect me from the rain. I figured out very quickly that the brim would collect water and funnel it down the back of my shirt :lmao:.

I was had to be there the same time you were early dec cant remember dates but they had flood warnings and tornado warning too.

We have been going in February for years & we never see rain for the whole two weeks. But the temps do vary quite a bit (50's - 80's), so I guess it's a bit of a trade-off.
