But not quite addicted to a med, like I got addicted to Zopiclone or Ibuprofen for their therapeutic effects? Even though you are meant to fiercely manage such drugs for health's sake? FWIW, I take neither now.

I started Zopiclone in 2017. I took it daily. In fact maybe 2 years ago, the Dr even upped my dosage. My husband had a heart attack in October, and so we have started to be healthier. I stopped it on my own, I weaned off slowly, I don’t take anything to sleep, not saying I sleep, but I don’t take anything. 😅

No I’ve never been addicted to anything. I’ve never understood how that happens. It seems some people are more predisposed to it than others.

Tramadol. I didn't know I was addicted until I tried to stop.
I had been prescribed 3x/day for about a year or so.
When I tried to wean myself I was an emotional mess.
It was horrible.

I have a friend who I think is addicted to that. He was prescribed it due to pain associated with his chemo treatment. His doctor tried to get him to use other medicines for the pain but he claims they don’t work and always insists to keep getting the tramidol.

If it's the only Rx that helps, I understand.
I would hope that your friend would consider cutting down
one per day & interspersing another Rx.
Many Rx can be taken w/Tramadol with no problems.
I have taken several psych. Rx over the years for pain
and had no problem taking the Tramadol w/them.
I just never realized how hard it would be to wean myself off.

Thank you for this advice.

Paxil. It was the first anti-depressant I was prescribed. I took it twice a day for a couple of years, and then the clinic I went to closed very suddenly and I left without my medication for a couple of weeks, which they said would be fine until I got in at another place. So I went cold turkey, which is a horrible idea with Paxil-the withdrawal started a couple of days after I stopped taking them. I couldn't sleep, I had the shakes, all of it. I wound up getting into bed with my mother and sobbing while she rubbed my back. Terrible. I fear I am probably hooked on the Lorazepam I take for my anxiety now.

I was never addicted to anything, but I did used to use ibuprofen pretty heavily and pre-emptively, especially on Disney trips. It was for my back. I have actually stopped using it regularly and find that I don't need it. I still take it ocassionally for a headache or something, but I don't even carry it around at the parks anymore.
