Anyone else finding it hard to plan their April trip?

We're going April 7th and there are a few things up in the air which are making it hard to commit to our plans... Skipper Canteen, the new night show at AK, the new restaurant at AK and who knows what else.

I usually go back and forth with things anyway, but this trip is extra tricky!

What are the rest of you doing? Planning as usual? Leaving parts of your days open? Making reservations that you may cancel? I'm excited, just confused... LOL

Skipper canteen hit the blogs this week as opened for cast member preview. I would leave a spot for it and check adrs daily because that's happening really soon.

I personally would schedule the rest of the trip and just put in the last full day (with overnight) as either my AK day or a second AK day. As it gets closer, it's only the 2 AK days you need to sort out if or how you want to change and the rest of your vacation (aka adrs) are in place.

I check for Skipper Canteen every day... LOL!

I guess that's what I'll do with AK. We just stayed at AKL in October and spent a lot of time at AK, so we'll just need one day. I'll just keep that day totally open, rather than a resort dinner, which is what we normally do.

Thanks for the advice!!!! I just need to blindly follow someone's recommendation at this point!! :)

I am going in April as well. I don't have a dining plan so I've left a whole day of MK open for lunch or dinner ADR at skippers if I am lucky enough to get one for the 7 of us. AK is a half day park for us, so we plan to go to Disney Springs in the evening. If Rivers of Light opens I'll do what it takes to get us there. If it doesn't, we'll shop!

We don't have the Dining Plan either which does help! That's my AK problem as well, we never spend a whole day there. I do have a 12:00 Yak & Yeti on our AK day, but I have no idea what time the night time show would be. I don't think we'd last there from 12:00 to 9:00 if it's going to be late. At least you can cancel a reservation the day before!

What I've seen/watched/read about the AK changes coming, it's a whole lot more change than just the show coming. Night animals on the safari, nighttime lighting. I'm not sure exactly what is suppose to open pre-pandora but I suspect this is about to become a park that you will not only spend an entire day there but have to do everything twice (day vs night) to see it all.

I'm just leaving the evenings to play by ear and making sure I have 2 days incase of weather problems or if it happens to open in the middle of my trip. We love things like family time at AMC theater or bowling so it'll fit us well and one of them will become our non-park night out.

No DDP for me, either. Barring catastrophe, Skipper Canteen will be open well before April. I'm a hopper and I'm planning all or part of 3 days at MK, so hoping I can find an ADR in there somewhere. If I can't get SC, I'll just do counter service, so I'm not holding any "backup" ADR.

I am not holding my breath for Rivers of Light, and even if it does open by 4/15 (my last evening) I'm not sure I want to tackle the insanity.

Same here! We are just a little bit further out than you guys but not by much. We are going the second week of May and this has been by far the hardest trip to plan! I have the same ADR's for different days because with everything up in the air it is really hard to know which day to do what. I just made sure we would have our Favorite ADR;s no matter which day it was. Once it gets closer and things can be finalized I am going to have a lot of work canceling and deciding which ADR's to keep. Hoping we will find out some answers here soon!

I definitely know what you mean… I had planned two trips we had to cancel (one was tentative, but the other was such a bummer) so this is my third in the past two years and this is soooo much harder. We probably won't come back to Disney World for many years, so missing something new would be a little bit of a bummer. I'm also hoping the Poly quiet pool will be open. I've been holding off on making a room request until they make an announcement since I'd rather not overlook the construction.

And then there's the VERY remote chance on the Frozen ride in Norway opening and the closure of Big Thunder that are being rumored for that time. I'm definitely not planning on Rivers of Light being open, but since World of Color in California Adventure is my favorite, I'd hate to miss Rivers of Light if it is. Since we wouldn't need AK time in the evening at all if it's not open, it's a pretty big swing. And I'm not even thinking Frozen is a faint possibility, but a rumor is circulating that CMs in Norway are back to work mid-March, so although it's just a rumor and not as exciting to me as Rivers of Light, I wouldn't say no to seeing it if it's open.

While most of these aren't affecting my planning too much, they are making me more antsy and a little less willing to set things like desired fastpasses in stone. I really hope they make some announcements before the end of January!
