We were at Disney for 10 days in June. I hate to say it and I am not usually a bad sport, but I was a little disapointed when we were there for 10 days and nothing happened for us. I really tried to go into it with the attitude that hey we were at Disney World that is magic enough anything else is just icing on the cake. We had a great vacation it did not spoil it but I did found myself at the end of the week a little sad that we got nothing from the year of a million dreams. After sending post cards for months and getting nothing I was hoping maybe surely the odds were in our favor that a little something would happen being at the World for 10 days and at the parks everyday. I don't think it helped any coming on the boards so much and reading about all the dreams (not that I begrudge anyone theirs but I think it got my hopes up a little too much). Also, it did not help that we saw dream team members all over the place. DD pin traded with alot of them. We were even so close at MGM one day, DD stoped and pin traded with a dream team member outside of Star Tours. We then got in line for Star Tours and they put us over to the fast pass line even though we did not have fast passes, I guess no one was using it and the standby line was not very long. Anyway as we are standing in line to board next here comes that dream team member with another one and they have on their vests they stand at the line and keep looking at there watches. I was hoping at least I would see them in action even if we didn't get anything, but we boarded before they did anything. I promise I am not complaining and we had a fantastic vacation I just wondered if anyone else that did not get anything had a little bit of let down, or if it is just me? :sad2:

I used to feel the same way as you. We had been to the park 30+ different days since the promotion started and absolutely no dreams. We finally got to the point where we just stopped even hoping to be chosen and just enjoy our time there. Whenever a dream team member walked past us, it was always the person right behind us in line that was chosen. We've seen the shopping spree given away, ears, lanyards and a ton of dream fastpasses. Honestly, we are the ones that are lucky. We go to the mousehouse weekly. I think we spent too much energy hoping we'd get chosen. I was constantly looking for dream team members and that just isn't healthy. LOL. The only thing that still baffles my mind is seeing families that won multiple times in the same day. We've seen families wearing the dream ears AND around their necks are the lanyards and dream fastpasses. These people need to be playing the lotto!
Hope you had a beautiful vacation anyway.

Yes, I would agree. We just got back yesterday from a 10 day trip. Tried not to be disapointed, but ended up feeling more than a little sad. But in the end we had a great trip and had our very first prize waiting for us. My dh it seems won a pair of ears! They came the day AFTER we left for WDW! How is that for irony??

I have also felt disappointed, my dds won fast passes when they were at a different park than we were. I was excited for them. A friend went with her family and when her dd was showing me goodies they brought home, she had the lanyard. My dd said you should've seen my face when I saw that!!:flower3: I saw the team, about 7 of them, when I came off of EE. Went back on the ride, there was no wait, got off and they were still there. I guess they were waiting for the specific train they needed to give whatever prize to. I tried to hang around, but I never did see what they were giving out.:confused3 Of course, this has never spoiled my trips, maybe when I go for my birthday in September, I'll get to meet a dream team member, one can only dream:smickey:

We went to MGM yesterday. Yup, you guessed it. We won dream fast passes on TOT. Ds8 thought that someone else had won and we were just clapping to be polite. It only took around 35 visits. LOL

Congratulations! I'm so jealous of your proximity to Disney :goodvibes

There are pros and cons. The weather here is so sketchy. We went two weeks without power with the hurricanes a few years ago and that huge tornado February 2nd went right across our subdivision. Luckily we had nothing but branches down, but the street behind us was almost leveled. Believe me, there are times of the year that I seriously consider moving back to NJ.

When we were there this past March we didn't win anything and I really didn't even give it a second thought. Never even saw the Dream Team, or any evidence that they were around.

Congratulations! :cool1: We aren't supposed to go back until next March but maybe I could convince DH we need to go one more time this year just in case it is our lucky trip. I doubt he would go for it, he has already told me enough with the post cards that I could go on ebay and buy several of the lanyards for what I have spent on post cards. That is so true but is just wouldn't be the same.

We spent five days in the parks and I think I saw one dream team member the whole time. The trip was great without it. The whole time was focused on the kids which is great since I work so many hours when not on vacation.

My son did get a magical moment certificate naming him a prince of the realm for pulling the sword out of the stone. It was perfect timing because we were waiting for our lunch reservations at CRT which was more for my daughter.

We were there for 8 days with 18 people and came very close to getting two dreams. First, we rode EE and when we got off, saw the dream team members. As soon as they shooed us out of the photo viewing area, they began giving out dream fastpasses to the trains that unloaded after us. Talk about bummed. Oh, well. We continued with our day and later found ourselves in line at the Primeval Whirl. The dream teamers were there and announced that they would be giving out those ears. Our kids were very excited, except that when the line began to move, they sent us to the other side to load. They evidently only had enough for those that were right in front of them, not all of us who were within hearing range. That bummed out the kids mostly.

However, not one to get down, I continued to make my own magic for our group thoughout the trip. I had a ton of fun planning my own surprises for the kids and treating everyone to many of my own secrets. :thumbsup2

I have to say that I was also a bit disappointed when my family and I were at MK in May. I wore a Disney birthday hat that our friends gave us around ALL day long for my 30th bday and I barely even got a "Happy Birthday" from the CM's. There were SEVERAL opportunities when we could have and probably should have had a "dream" come true (too long to explain). So...we did end up having a great time, but to be honest, I was a little disappointed. We could've really used some cheering up since we had 2 trips to the ER that week! :guilty:

Our last two trips during YOAMD represented 11 full days in the parks, and nothing. We saw the dream team members several times. They were entering the HM as we were exiting. We also saw other guests with fastpasses, ears, or lanyards walking around. I was so disappointed with our horrible luck. Our upcoming October trip will add another 7 full days in the WDW parks during this promotion. I figure if we don't win this time we'll just buy the pin lanyards on ebay, and make up a good story about how we "won" them. ;)

We were in WDW last October. We travelled with friends who have two children like us. My friend's kids had a lucky week.....my kids were very disappointed. Both the other children were handed special little cards (I can't remember what they said) throughout the week. The CM would write the child's name on it and hand it to them. Both of the kids each rec'd 3 cards at various locations throughout the week. My kids rec'd nothing! It was heartbreaking for me to see my own children's faces whenever they watched their friend's receving this card and they didn't.
We are travelling to WDW for the last week of August. I'm praying that they will get this "card" at some point during the trip. Or maybe even a "dream" wish will come true. I wonder what the CM's look for in the the people they choose when granting wishes?

I've been to WDW 2x during this whole YOAMD thing ... once in Jan (5 days) and once in July (11 days) and never expected to get anything. To us, the magic that you get is the magic you make. Maybe if you realize that, you'll find that you did have a dream come true (no matter how small) at WDW.

DS was selected (in July) to call "All Aboard" on the Disney train. Was he chosen by YOAMD team? No, the conductor just asked him. That was a dream to us. We managed to walk right onto TOT one July morning ... total fluke and don't ask us how that happened!!!! Was that given to us by YOAMD team? No -- but we sure felt lucky that we didn't have to wait in line!!! Esp. since the parks were sooo crowded! Sure, we watched as other people received dreams ... good for them. But, I don't need a lanyard, ears, ultimate fast passes to have my Disney dreams come true.

You're all YOAMD winners -- you've all had the magic of WDW touch you in some way on your vacation. I'm sure you all can find something magical about your YOAMD visit. The opportunity to go to WDW is a dream that a lot of children will never realize. Be grateful for what you have ...

I AM extremely grateful for what we have. Every time we go to WDW, I'm thrilled and amazed we're there again. We love all the little things about Disney - the smells, walking down Main Street, hidden Mickey's, refillable mugs, etc. However ... no matter how much someone might appreciate the little things, it is extremely normal to feel a little disappointed about missing out on something good. It DOES NOT mean that person is too spoiled to appreciate what they do have.

Wow, I guess it's just me, but I'd be happy to even be close to someone that did win! I've seen statements from 'gave away our fastpasses' to 'there were many chances to give me a dream'... What the?? Do people seriously feel like they got cheated for NOT getting a YOAMD thing? Geez, I'm really disappointed to read things like this..

Daxx and Skater, THAT'S more the attitude I was wanting to see!!:cheer2: :thumbsup2
