Anyone else feeling nickle and dimed lately?

I just got back from registering DD for swimming lessons. The website said that the lessons would be x amount so that's what I was prepared to pay. Oh no, there's a facility usage fee (an extra $22 every 3 months), the cost of the lessons are actually $10 more than stated on the website thanks to a new rule, and I have to pay $15 to get her an id card so she can enter the facility. All in all it ended up being double what I thought!

Granted I won't have to pay for another card as long as we don't lose this one, and the facility fee allows us to use the pool on weekends, but I'm still a bit annoyed. It just seems that every time I turn around, I'm paying more and getting less. Anyone else feel this way?

Everytime I go food shopping...

less tuna in the can and more water, less paper towels on the roll (and the Bounty folks thought they could slip that one by), don't even get me started on Edy's ice cream. My dad was touching up some paint last week and grabbed the can he bought last year, guess what... a gallon of Benjamin Moore exterior paint is no longer a gallon!

I just noticed that, too. Tuna used to come in a 7 oz can, now it's 5 oz for the same price.

I noticed this with Breyer's ice cream. It used to come in half gallon containers, now the container is only 1.5 quarts. I guess they figured people wouldn't realize that half a gallon is 2 quarts? The container looks exactly the same, it's just smaller capacity. :sad2:

I was wondering... I thought I used to get two good sandwiches out of a can and now they seemed skimpy! I think some of the pouches are still 7 oz...atleast for now!

Coffee containers keep shrinking too.

It seems like everyone has their hand out with all of their various fees and charges lately. Ugh, I just try to live as simply as possible but don't get me started on the schools!

Do I ever. My favorite example is the $150 "athletic fee" I'm forced to pay at the beginning of every academic year. I don't even play any sports. :headache:

A gallon of milk is also no longer a "gallon." Check it out!

ya, the dining hall at work has started charging for ketchup packets packets past 3.

Add me to the list! I think everyone has their hands in my pocket....:headache:

oh yeah, all the time. Not sure if it has always been this way or I am just way more attentive to it as college is killing us.

The ice cream companies bother me too. There are very few containers that are a half gallon anymore. I think Velvet is the only one around here. Some shampoos and body washes have done this too. Did you notice the dips in the bottoms of containers or bottles are getting bigger? The bottles look the same but hold a few onces less. Hmph!

You remember when a bag of sugar was 5 lbs.? That's where it all started.

We are Y members. My kids (10 and 4)lessons combined are $104 for 9 - 1 hour lessons.

We went away for a short trip to DW last month. I found an airfare for $57 each way. I thought it was great deal until they started to nickel and dime us (after I paid for the flight). It cost $15 for the first bag being checked. Luckily we were not checking our bags. Then there was a charge for getting pre assigned seats. It cost me $7 each way for my crummy middle seat and it cost me $12 each way for my husband's aisle seat. Then they charged for any food or drink on the plane. Now I know why it was so cheap.

The worst part was the the seats were so close front to back that when the guy in front of my husband put his seat back dh couldn't even read.

Preach it! I feel like I can't win for losing... $20 here, another $20 there. Ugh! I'm trying so hard to build up some extra savings and it doesn't seem to matter, it all just drifts away!!! AAAAAAAAKKKKKK! :headache:

So far so good on the gallon of milk.

We still have some brands that are a half gallon of ice cream all local brands though, not the national brands.

The kids don't participate in sports except spring baseball which increased the fees to avoid fundraising and then added a $35/child field use fee. Plus their fee is supposed to be based on the kids grade but I was charged based upon their ages which was $15 more. I was supposed to get the difference back, but so far no check .

I also feel nickel and dimed by the school. It started last week and already I've had to pay $10 for PTO, $2.50 for scholastic news, School pictures just came home; $36/child for the minimal pictures for GMs, GFs, etc., plus oldest DS came home with notes that three of his classes will be using CDs instead of books which means that if anyone else is going to use the computer on a school night I'm going to have to get another one :scared1: and we got a note that the first PTO fundraiser will come home in a week. :sad2:.

Of course, I really feel nickel and dimed by DH :rotfl: every time I turn around there is yet another thing "we" need (read he's dying to go shopping); last week is it was hiking boots ($60), yesterday it was a tent for DS so he's not using our good tent when he camps with the Scouts ($80) and tonight it's a bike ($450) - He says why do you always say we never have any money - ummm, because you'd spend it all :rotfl2:

Just yesterday I went to Wendy's and I ordered off the .99 menu, now I hadn't been to Wendy's in a while and I remember the double stack was a good burger especially for .99,well now the best way to describe the size of this burger now is a good sized slider,a little mini burger with 2 mini beef patties.

My husband and I were grocery shopping at the commissary on Sunday comparison shopping. I love Special K they all appear to be the same size but at closer look they were off anywhere from .2oz to 1oz but they were all the same size! I agree with PP too! I used to work at Wendys and I swear the double stack which was 2-2oz patties is way smaller. Companies are getting slicker and so we must be very observant so were are not being nickel and dimed!
