Anyone else feeling gluttonous?

DH and I have been off since Wed - originally we planned on travelling to relatives but had to call the trip off and stay home. Neither of us wanted to "give back" our prearranged days off from work - so we have been sleeping, eating and watching tv - with some shopping thrown in for good measure.

We have gone out for breakfast twice (one of my favorite treats but we rarely do it) - went out for steak the night before thanksgiving - we opted to pick up "to-go" thanksgiving turkey dinner plates from a local restaurant instead of even bothering to go eat at the restaurant as we orginally planned - we have kept a crazy sleep schedule - black friday shopping at Midnight then home for a few hours and lining up for 4am opening of local mall

Today I went to sleep at 10am (after coming home from breakfast out) - got up at 2pm - just in time for DH to say he was going to nap. Now I am contemplating hitting a drive thru to pick up dinner rather than cooking either the spaghetti bake or ham dinner that I had planned for this weekend.

I feel like I should be ashamed of myself but there is something very freeing about keeping a crazy schedule - doing what you want when you want and shirking all responsibility for a few days....overeating, over indulging, etc.

I can see why some cultures consider gluttony a sin...

Sounds like a great time to me. It's a complete break from the normal grind. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.:)

This is exactly why if I ever hit Powerball, I will throw out all my clocks. It must be very refreshing to do things when you want to do them, not because it is merely time to do them.

YAY for you!

Back when we were young we ONLY took off work to go somewhere exciting... for some reason doing nothing at all was never a good enough goal. But now, every so often DH takes a vacation like the one you are having right now... in fact his started Monday. The kids have been home with us since Wednesday and we have been having a wonderful, lazy, just enjoy each other sort of week since then. To anyone who has never indulged I highly recommend it... and you are absolutely right, such a lavish waste of time is very decadent - but that makes it even more delicious IMO:goodvibes

Yep, been pretty much doing the same thing just about a week now... will regret returning to the grind...

Same here! DH has been off all week, I've been off since Wednesday. At this point, I'm actually looking forward to going back on South Beach (diet) on Monday! :lmao:

It has been fun doing a lot of "nothing" though! :happytv: :surfweb: With a little bit of this thrown in :laundy:

Oh yea.

However we did take the bikes out with the dogs and the kids to the park since it was so beautiful here today.

Then we went to McDonald's.:lmao:

Enjoy! Don't waste even one second feeling guilty. Your time off is yours, and you can do as much, or as little as you please.

It sounds divine to me! We all need to treat ouselves once in a while whether it's a day at a spa, or simply sleeping late and going out to breakfast.

Enjoy :cheer2:

Yes, gluttony abounds at our house! I've been getting into bed by 11:00 but then I watch TV and read magazines until midnight. Then I can't seem to get up until close to 10:00 a.m. We've been eating crud - chips and salsa, apple pie, cookies, blah, blah, blah. I was planning to get some cleaning done around the house during my 5 day weekend. I did a little, but not much. Now we're putting up the tree and making a bigger mess. I'm not looking forward to Monday when I have to get the kids up for school and go to work myself. My DH is home looking for a job so I think I'll be making him a little chore list each day for the next week until we get caught up.
