Anyone else feeling a little bummed about not getting to spend Thanksgiving with family? My family always has a big get-together about 3 1/2 hours away. All the grandparents are there, aunts and uncles, various cousins (although usually not all at the same time.) I've only missed 1 or 2 Thanksgivings over the past 9 years. DH has been able to go with me most years; and his parents have gone with us a couple times, too.
Well, this year DH got stuck working. And since I knew he was going to be working I scheduled myself to work, too (we work at different places, but both in the ambulance business). Back before DH and I were together I worked every holiday and actually really enjoyed working on the holidays. This year I'm really bummed, though. I wish I was going to be with my family for Thanksgiving.
I'm sure I'm not the only one...who else is with me?

, but DH is overseas and can't come home for Thanksgiving or Christmas. We always go out together just the two of us on black Friday to shop a little and eat out and catch a movie. Its not going to be the same without him here this year.
But I promised myself I would be happy and positive for the kids. So here I am.......
This is our 6th Thanksgiving since we moved to FL and my BF flies back to Michigan every year to be with his family. So it is just Mom and I.
What makes this worse is my uncle is not in good shape, so my dad is worried this might be one of his last holidays. Were going to try and go up in January during my school break, but thisll be my familys first Thanksgiving without the extended family in a long time.
I'm at her house right now, doing homework (come on, a little leeway on Thanksgiving week?). I would rather have gone with my best friend, but he'd never met the cousins he's visiting, so having me along would've been even more awkward.
