Anyone else do this?

We just finished up a wonderful family Spring Break trip to the Smoky Mountains. It was exactly what we wanted and we had a great time. However, does anyone else find themselves comparing what they spend on "other" vacations to a Disney trip?
For instance it costs my family of 6 $75 to ride the Alpine Mountain coaster one time. It was really fun and unique but my DH and I usually say things like, "for $20 more we could have gotten a ticket to HS."
It was $45 to ride the Wild Woody go karts ONE time! $150 to see the Comedy Barn show. $140 to eat at Old Mill.
Of course, hiking several times in the Smokies is free and amazing! We are very thankful for this trip, just wondering if others do this too? :)

Definitely - we spent the night in Cincinnati last night. Our hotel had a Sunday brunch for $29.99/person. I refused to pay it and walked next door to a different hotel that had a breakfast buffet for $16.95/person. When we were eating I laughed to DH that we don't blink about paying nearly $40 for a breakfast buffet at Chef Mickey's, but I wouldn't pay it at the hotel this morning.

We were thinking of going to Amelia Island Plantation for a long weekend for my birthday next weekend, the room was $400 per night. The first words out of my mouth were I could go to WDW for less than that, no way am I paying that.

Exactly!
Our 5 nights in a 3 bedroom cabin in TN costs exactly what our 8 nights in a 3 bedroom townhouse will cost in Orlando.
Again, we love the Smoky Mtns, we are just always comparing. And honestly, Disney isn't that much more expensive in general.

I'm confused. Was it $75 for your whole family to ride Alpine Mountain? If so it would be a lot more than $20 more to visit DHS.

When a meal out I often make myself feel better about the cost by comparing it to the price of a table service meal at Disney though.

Yes, it was $75 for the whole family so yes, that would just be $20 for 1 ticket to HS, haha. We would play rock/paper/scissors to see who gets it, haha. It is just a comparison. We spent $75 to spend about 1 hour waiting in line and riding one thing.

One bottle of water at Disney World - $2.50. One bottle of water OUTSIDE at a ball game $4. Draft beer at Disney World - $5.50. At a ball game? $8. And yes, same size of cup. One night of parking at a hotel in downtown Atlanta? $25. At Disney World, onsite, nothing.

Yup, even at the movies.....popcorn is more expensive at our theatre. Same with a bottled pop in the vending machine there was 4.50!

We compare our trips to WDW too. Our 3 week trip to New Zealand cost just a hair more than our last 10 day stay at Disney (flights excluded) And our upcoming 2 week Celebrity cruise, concierge level, will be about the same price as our Nov week at WDW. Eh. It is what it is.
