Anyone else do the DVC Riviera Survey?

What if they offered a Jacuzzi/whirlpool tub in the tower studio? Might be nice for couples that spend a little more time in the room.

This doesn't really surprise me.. Pod Hotel is a chain these days in a couple big cities and the rooms are what you think they are. Start at 100 sqft, and very popular for the traveler on a budget who literally only showers and sleep in their rooms.

These tiny pods are even getting popular, primarily found in Japan.

I have to admit that I almost liked your post, but then I thought know way would I want to stay in one of those pods. I hope DVC never sees them, they loved to lop off feet from studios without any prompting.

Given that the building is like 40% constructed, wouldn't the floor plan designs already be finalized? It would seem to suggest the marketing approach is up in the air, not whether there will be some sort of micro studios there or not.

I agree it sounds like these rooms are being built and the marketing approach is needed.

We're all thinking that the "tower studio" for 2 people would require fewer points. Let me suggest that while the size might be smaller, the tower studio may be the same cost as a regular studio because of the king bed amenity. I, for one, would stay in a "tower room" if I could get a king bed, because I'm the size of an NFL linebacker. In order to get a king bed elsewhere in DVC, one has to stay in a 1 bedroom, at significantly higher point cost.

I agree, especially since DVC is considering calling them a Tower Room versus a value room. Tower sounds special and expensive. Value means saving points.

How long before they start selling this resort? Do they start selling before it actually opens? How does it work?

They definitely start selling before the resort opens but I think they are usually reasonably close to completion before they launch sales. When they do start selling they give an anticipated opening date. If I recall correctly CCV sales starting in March 2017 and the resort opened in July 2017 and the Poly sales started in Jan of 2015 and the resort opened in April 2015.

The longest lead time in the past was for BLT, which started selling a little more than 10 month before it opened. More typical advance time has been 3 to 6 months.

Agree with the above that the name "Tower Studios" does not indicate a lower point cost than other studios. It implies that these may be upper floor studios with the better views and cost possbibly even more than a regular studio.

I’m wondering if tower studios could be those with theme park/fireworks views from the rooms or balcony and other amenities that would enable them to command a premium. The description referred to them as luxurious so it doesn’t sound like they are promoting a lower cost angle.

I can't wait for the posts asking if a family can fit 6 people into a 2 person Pod because the kids are small and don't mind snuggling up.
I was thinking this too. There will be a thread asking if they booked this pod and have two names on the resie, DH and DS, can the DW make FP with them at 60 days out even if her name isn't on the resie becasue she doesn't know if she can come yet.....:rolleyes1

If the tower studios only have a 2 person occupancy, then these studios would only be open to couples. Might open up some of the studios at the 7 month mark, along with an adults only floor at the Riviera.

I was thinking the same thing. They may be calling them tower studios so they could cram more onto the same floor that has they views of the parks. I have a hard time imagining a king bed in something they are referring to as a micro-suite. This is Disney after all, they aren't likely to improve a studio.

I'm wondering if their normal sized studios or 1 bedrooms can accommodate 5 people? We have 3 kids and have to be able to sleep 5. BLT wasn't an option for us to use studio like VGF or Poly. If Riveria is done right (1) can fit 5 people (2) has great promo pricing maybe I'd consider a direct purchase (In the mean time we will enjoy our AKV points).

I have a horrible feeling Riviera will be so high cost/ points intensive, that they are doing this for a lower ‘bottom line’ headliner and because they know couples wouldn’t pay the prices to get a week or whatever.

Pretty sure that Florida timeshare law allows them to sell when certain requirements have been met including how much construction has been completed. In addition they need to file in other states and jurisdictions before they can sell to prospects from home.

I think Disney is trying to tap into the Non Kids market. There has been a trend since the last recession of higher educated couples, starting families later or not having kids at all. These people also tend to have a more disposable income. I think Disney might be wanting to tap that market. For example me and my wife, zero kids as of now and at least no kids for another 5 or 6 years, we have been married for 5 years already, so we are within that demographic of people who are fogoing kids. We also love disney beyond belief and have APS and spend tons of money in parks. I suspect Disney sees these numbers and might be wanting to tap into it. Riveria would make sense as the place to try and tap into it as well as it is equal Distance between the more adult friendly Parks, Epcot and DHS with the food and alcohol.

I'm suddenly quite exited about Riviera.
Studios for two will either cost less points (unlikely, as we're speaking about Disney) or have better amenities (small but functional kitchen? King bed? Washer/drier?). In either case a win for me, who often travel solo.

We are excited too. I'm holding out hope that the tower studios will be a reasonable price for adults only trips while the regular studios and 1 bedrooms will sleep 5 and it will all be priced with point charts similar to BRV......I'm also thinking my chances of all that lining up are about the same as my chances of winning the lotto which are pretty small considering I never buy tickets.

I always get excited when a new dvc is announced. I love VGF and I was sceptical at first. CCV has a lot of really nice features but I wish the living room was larger. Now we have Riviera and then the one over at River Country to look forward to.

I was just looking at some of the recent construction photos after reading this thread, and I have a theory about these "tower studios".

https://www.wdwmagic.com/resorts/di...ction-from-the-air---september-2018/33580.htm

In the above linked image, there is a cylindrical section on the very left of the resort. Perhaps that is the "tower" section of the resort? Rooms in the tower might require a different layout due to the circular floorplan.

We'll see. I'm really surprised that, aside from what we can guess from construction photos, there is no more official information about the Riviera than there is about the newly announced River Country area hotel/DVC.
