Anyone else disappointed?

I guess we got spoiled with all the sit down dinners - it is a nice break on a hot day. With 6 in our family, it would cost us over $700 to switch to a moderate and $420 for the upgrade to regular dining. We will have to think about it for awhile especially in this scary economy.

We were fortunate to book bounceback last year with the regular DP at POP, but I priced out what it will cost next year at this year's terms/rates (2 day tickets, upgrading QSDP to DDP) and it will be almost $850 more for the exact same thing! I've already warned my family that this is the last year we're staying onsite and doing the DDP. We'll just go back to offsite, a day or two at WDW and spending way more time at the beach, US/IOA (we have APs) and with family that lives in the area.

It was fun while it lasted but we can do offsite for so much less. The "free DDP" was what finally convinced us to stay onsite after many trips to Orlando before FD, but they keep chipping away at what is included in the DDP so I no longer see it as the value that I once did. Offsite ends up being a little more work for me because I have to cook a meal here and there, but that's OK, at least we'll be in Orlando.

The mugs are only good at your hotel-not the parks-sorry.

I am totally bummed about not only the QSDP change but add that to the rumored overall plan changes for 2011 and I am traumatized. Luckily I read the rumors about the qs/value change so I booked the BB last year so this year is status quo for us but next year I am very undecided where we will vacation. Between the upgrade cost and all the things that keep dropping off the plan (in case you haven't read the thread mugs and desserts seem to be coming off both QS and reg dp next year) I am feeling a little bitter about giving disney my vacation fund-I am seriously considering heading to the beach instead-only thing is the weather is always a little iffy and peak season in almost impossible between available vacation time and cost. I am trying to do all my research prior to my Sept trip to know weather or not to look for the BB.

I know some are thrilled with the QS but for me as the house cook part of the fun of vacay is the sit down dinners.
My sentiments exactly!!! We feel the same way. It'll be a little hard going back to"basics",but it will be a heck of a lot more economical. We are experts at doing Disney "off-site",so I guess thats the way the"free-food" crumbles.:goodvibes
