my dh is not going and never has been to wdw. the main reason is that my mom is going and they do not get along. also he just went back to work and does not want to take the time off and he's in the union and he does not get paid vacation time just 2 annual checks in june and november so we would be missing 2 weeks of $$$$ from our monthly income. He wants to take our 2 dd in feb when it's slow at work for him or if he's laid off. i also think he would not do good in august in wdw and traveling with extended family members!!! we would love to go for christmas but i work in a hospital and we are not allowed to take vaction form dec 15 to jan 15:( or we would be going again for christmas beacuse he gets a nice vacation check in november!!

We are leaving next Wednesday for Disney. My husband is going on this trip. We are staying offsite for 2 weeks in a villa. Last September we booked the bounceback for this year. I couldn't get him to go back so soon. I'm surprising my DD8 and we are going on a mommy/daughter trip.

I'm a RN and work in a hospital too! (Our hospital is small.) We can't take vacations over Christmas either. I work on a ortho surgery floor. Most of our doctors take off over Christmas, so we get cancelled. I would love to go over Christmas!!!

i went without dh last year in november.me, my mom, 2kids, cousin and 1 of her kids left all the adult men at home we had a great time. dh is coming this time on a trip with extended family. he just gets cranky though so i need to plan breaks more for him than the kids

Another nurse here (ICU) with no vacation at Christmas. Plus, only one nurse in our department can be off at a time, so summer is hard to get as well. DH doesn't go on everytrip to WDW with me and the kids. I travel with my parents sometimes, and they tend to go about once a year.

I have taken off time the week after Thanksgiving. It is a really great time to go to WDW. Also, I have gone in mid Jan or the end of Jan/early Feb and the trips have turned out really nice.

We have gone in late September 3 times, and enjoyed it. The weather was hot, and we are able to do the water parks at that time. Our last trip was mid-Aug and it was hot. We had a good time though, but I prefer the cooler temperatures.

Are you going back in February??

Forgive me; I'm sure I've misread your post.

But if he has never been to WDW, he WANTS to go in February with your 2 girls, and he's able to schedule it, why are you choosing to go now with your mom instead?

I have gone with and without my DH. I have to be honest though, if my DH wanted to take my DD and could not go until February I would wait.

I understand how it is when you have different vacation schedules, my DH is union as well and in construction. When our kids were young he could never take time in the summer so I took them and often went with other family members. Never on a special trip to Disney at that time though.

Now we take out DGD and once again I sometimes travel without him. I understand why you would need to do this but I must say that taking a child to Disney for the first time is a wondrous thing, I would never deny my DH that experience and share it with my Mom. For Kady's first trip my DD invited all of us to go but she would have left us behind in a heartbeat if there was a choice between her DH and any other family member.

heehee. my dh is the same way. i think it's because he doesn't necessarily see WDW as a vacation because DD and I could go commando style all day and all week :goodvibes. He likes to sleep in and just lounge on vaca. Guess that's why he does better during our summer vaca at the beach. He goes to WDW every Feb, with us during Mardi Gras week when schools are out, but that's all he can take and wants. DD and I are going for a girls trip in October and DH will stay home with the dog :)

I would go the 7th of Dec thru the 13th. It is a wonderful time to go, the decorations are up, its comfortable weather for the most part and its a slower week for Disney.

But anyway, my Dh didnt want to go again when I started thinking vacation this year. So I planned to with my Mother in law and DD. We are taking a short family vacation this Labor day, and then its Girls Week at Disney.

I think Dh will feel bad when we go without him but he will also be spending his week at Deer camp the same time.

I've somehow convinced DH to go each year for the past 3 years. But I'm thinking this will be it for him for a while. I'd love to go for a short trip w/o him sometime (I'm a SAHM & have the time- he has limited vaca.) I just couldn't handle both of my boys there w/o another adult. Maybe I'll do a long weekend w/ my mom or MIL sometime. -- but I know secretly DH will be jealous if he couldn't come!

Well not my DH, but sister is coming with us and her DH cancelled at the last minute. Now my mon is going to take his place. (I am secretly VERY happy she is coming and not him) He isnt much of a Disney person.

I would love it if my DH didn't go.

He gets frustrated easily and must bring his laptop and be on it every spare second in the room. That means he hogs up the only chair sitting space/place to eat. He also prefers to tour commando. I'm too old for that now. Blech.

The kids and I just got back from a Universal vacation without him and it was wonderful. So peaceful, no laptop, no DH getting frustrated with the crowd or complaining about how much money is spent on souvenirs and we took breaks when we were tired.

Oh well, guess I'd better get over it and figure out my plan to handle it since he's coming on the Sept. Disney trip. :rotfl2:

I find your post very sad.

That is really sad. I felt badly telling my DH that if he could not come with us in December I was not going either. I do go without him when he cannot join us, he would not have it any other way, but it is not the same.

First off, I have to mention that I love my husband very much and he is an amazing person! My husband is not coming with us for my kid's first Disney trip ever... My mother and I wanted him to come, but he politely declined. There are many reasons why he is not coming ($$ and getting the time off are NOT some of them), but I am OK with his decision. I am also very happy to be doing this trip with my mother, who is my very best friend. But I am truly hoping that the next one will be with my husband on my side... I guess I'll book a few less Princess meals then :rotfl:

DH did the first trip to Disney and hasn't been back since (about 20 years now). He hates it. The kids and I go without him and have a great time. He hates crowds, heat, lines, amusement parks, etc. Also, I get 4 weeks vacation a year and he gets two. He usually does a camping/fishing/kayaking trip with his buddies while we're at WDW (not my idea of a good time).

My DH knew when he married me that I am a Disney person, and that I would take many vacations. He told me that he didn't want to go every trip that I go on, but every other or so would be fine. Since we've been married, I have been 10 times, and DH has been 5 times.

The funny thing is that he says he isn't really a disney person, but while at WDW, he has bought himself 3 mickey golf shirts, and a pair of mickey shorts:thumbsup2

DD 5 and I often go alone (and I prefer it :rotfl: ) Dh says once every few yrs is enuff for him but I love to watch my little girl "in the magic". I find it soooooooooooo much easier with just she and I as we go commando and LOVE it!!;)

There's nothing sad about going to WDW without your husband if he is a Disney hater like mine! We spend a lot of time together as a family and we enjoy each other's company. But, Disney is NOT his thing! He took a 2 week Disney vacation with us this year. I wanted to go back next year, so I'm going with the kids and my mom. I'm really looking forward to it and I don't think it's a problem that my husband doesn't share my love of Disney. We have so many other things that we enjoy doing together. He's my best friend!

So, go without hubby and have a great time!
