Anyone else dealing with the ice today?

Well the temps in the teens are gone but now its raining and turning everything into ice.. what snow we had is now pure ice. The trees are covered my car is an ice block the side walk is a skating ring it has about 4" of ice on it. I'm so glad I finished my shopping last night! I don't think I would have got out anywhere today. The firetruck has been called out 5 times already to deal with accidents.. I wish people didn't have to travel in this crappy weather. I just hope no one gets killed out there.. its very nasty.

DH left for work at 7:30 am and a few minutes later called to tell me to tell our son, who was running late for work himself... to be careful that our walk way which is red brick so you can't put salt on it or it will be ruined was a sheet of ice and DH almost fell on his tushy when he stepped on it..

Needless to say.. DS, 18, thought what fun and decided to do a little Jig for Mom on the ice before he left

Yeah, I empted the ice maker in a bucket and put it in the freezer in the garage, so we will hve enough for Pina Colavas, and other icy drinks!!!!

It's really warm now (gotta be upper 40s), but it was a pain last night and may be a pain later.

It's winter. There's ice. What can you do.

What's really driving me bonkers is my lazy, good-for-nothing children.

What is so flippin hard about taking showers, in order, one after another?! Two are adults!

We're on a time limit. I have to get the wash out of the dryer and make the snickerdoodles and they can't be bothered to get themselves cleaned - hell, one wants to know just WHY he has to shower. (Because I flippin said so!)

Grrr.

I'm going to sic DH on them in about 5 minutes.

I'm not sure, but I think ours is supposed to arrive tomorrow morning.. I was reading on the Yahoo web page how there are holiday travelers stranded all over the country - from the east coast to the west coast because of various weather conditions.. I feel so bad for all of those people..

Actually, here we are having rain. We had some unusually cold weather these last few days. Now it is going into the 40's, so ice is melting.

Well it was supposed to get up to 40 today but it didn't so everything is a sheet of ice. I really wanted to go to church tonight and I REALLY wanted dh to make it home from work this morning/last night. but the ice caused him to sleep in the breakroom last night.
He wasn't going to have to go in until noon tomorrow. But someone called off so he is just going to stay overnight, finish his 10-10 shift for today sleep in the break room and start at 10 tomorrow again (on a dry day he has an hour and a half commute). Poor ds, this was the FIRST year in his whole life that he could have his Santa gifts on Christmas (he is seven) but we just emailed "Santa" and asked him to deliver them on Friday night instead....


I HATE ICE...
It is ruining my Christmas.
(Although I am grateful, for the first four years of marrige dh was stationed away every christmas, now we at least get to see him within a few days of it)

We had ice last night, but it was in the 40s today and it's all melted now. I went out on the front step last night, and ended up falling on the ice. Just glad it was nighttime and no one was outside to watch me look like an idiot. Even more glad that I wasn't injured.

I'm sorry, but I spent the first 44 years of my life in places where I had to deal with nasty, icy, cold weather. I am absolutely thrilled to now live in sunny Southern California where today it was a frigid 55 degrees.
