Anyone else "counting on" a snow day for Wednesday? UPDATE POST 74

We've had snow days the last two days and we have another one tomorrow. That makes no sense to me because it quit snowing here about 6 this morning and roads are plowed. I think it might be one of those "too cold" days. I'm really not looking forward to having my students for only a two day week. Things get pretty crazy when their schedules are messed up like that.

My husband's district already has Friday off for PD, so that means if they have school on Thursday they will have only one day this week, followed by a four day weekend since they have President's day off.

We got a reverse-911 call about 6pm, but not about the schools being closed today - rather, they were posponing trash delivery. Priorities! :)

our schooled called a half an hour ago ( a little late) and said no school, surprising we only have 8 inches.

Snow Day here in Vermont! My kids will be thrilled when they wake up.

We got an inch of snow here last night (maybe an inch and a half) and schools are closed. We homeschool, but my DD's chemistry class was canceled (our co-op policy states that our classes are cancelled if schools are). At least we can still have our full day of school on our own - kids won't be too happy if they find out other kids are off :rotfl:.

Looking at the snow outside, I have to wonder if we will be cancelled for tomorrow also. I can't get my front door open, and the snow is covering the backside of my mailbox. At the very least, I would expect a delay. Our district has a lot of hills, because we surround a river valley. I'll appreciate the extra day off now; not so much in June when we have to make it up.

I agree. Or at least a delay.

Snow day.

On the today show they said there was some snow in all states today exept for Florida:rotfl2:
Even high mountains of hawaii:eek:

I'm a native Californian, in a part of the state where we get about an inch of snow once every 10 years, so the whole snow day thing is foreign to me.
Then I talk to my Aunts, Uncles and Cousins in Canada, and I'm baffled. They don't get snow days either. As my Uncle put it, you just leave earlier and it takes longer to get home.

Well, they just called a snow day for tomorow, too. I REALLY need to accomplish SOMETHING tomorrow. I just frittered this day away, aside from several rounds of shoveling. It would have been so much worse if it were not for my fabulous neighbor with the snow blower. :thumbsup2

Tomorrow is day four for our kids. They haven't determined at my work if we will be open or not (I telework so have had to work from home all week :-( )

Another day off tomorrow here in Charlotte- that makes 4 in a row!! I've got major cabin fever- DD sprained her ankle sledding yesterday, and I have been playing nurse and gofer while she relaxes on the sofa with an ice pack and the laptop.

SE Mass checking in. All told, we have over a foot, maybe close to 18" of snow. Blizzard conditions most of the afternoon. We lost power around 6am this morning, and JUST got it back around 4:30 or so. We also just got the call that there is a 1 hr delay for the Elementary and Middle Schools, and there is no school at the High School due to a small fire with a generator. :scared1:

OK--so after receiving 2 FEET of snow (not even kidding), I called the Box Office this morning for Disney on Ice and the recording said the show was still on. I called everyone who was going. My niece was very iffy on still going, but my other friend was game. I would've still gone as we live close to a main road and they actually did a very good job of plowing early. DN calls me about 3:30 and said that her friend, who also had tickets for tonight, was able to exchange them. So I call again and speak to a person.....lo and behold we are able to exchange them for a Monday afternoon show, which works as we are all off for MLK day. I have to go there in person tomorrow to do the exchange. Glad it worked out for DN and that her kids will still be able to go.

DD22 and I went out this morning to attempt to shovel as DH was working. I COULD NOT BELIEVE how much snow we have.:eek:Thankfully DH's nephew came by with his snowblower and helped us out. We never would've been able to do all that shoveling.

Just got the call that my district at which I work is closed again tomorrow, but I think I might have to go in anyway. I'm a 12-month employee and am expected to go in unless otherwise told. Gonna call my principal now to check.

Happy snow day (again!):)
