I just HATE the way Disney lists a suggested tip on their bills, just seems so tacky.. do they really think the average guest is not able to figure out 15-20% of a bill????

Nope. Not everyone can easily figure it out, so rather than make the not so mathematically inclined stress over it, they print it out. Seems to work just fine.

It's also becoming more commonplace, I've seen it at a few locations outside of the world as well.

My daughter is a waitress (not in Disney, in NY) and trust me, the average person cannot figure out 15% of a bill.:sad2:

since it's related to tipping, and against board policy to start threads about tipping (just so you know why if a mod does lock or transfer this thread)

..as for the question, no, I don't find it offensive. I find it sad that so many people cannot do simple percentages. As other poster has said, way too many people have no idea how to figure tips.

Here's the link to the tipping thread that's allowed (board's rules on the subject/discussions/questions on tipping are at the beginning of the thread) ...here's the link to the tipping sticky:

Many people can't do percentages espeically on odd amounts. My husband will either use the feature on his phone or most often since I'm with him, make me do it. Even easy ones like 10% off at a store. My husband certainly isn't dumb either but not good at math. If you compared our vocabularies I would look like an idiot.

I know many more that also can't. Many of my friends in high school would have to ask me if they had enough money for things at like McDonalds because of the tax.

Personally I like having it there because then I don't have to think about it. I can do it, either divide the bill by 5 or move the decimal place over 1 to the left and double it for a quick way but its more convienent for the computer to print it and then either of us can fill in it.

How many times on here have we seen people think that if you split a table into two groups with their own check and each tipped 15% they would have tipped 30% total and not realize it doens't work that way??

Closing this thread as tipping discussion must be on the tipping thread that Catne linked to, and even then - debate about Disney's tipping policies isn't one of the things that can be discussed on that thread.
