Or as we like to say around here: The day to stay away from Daddy. :rotfl:

Our house is on the market, and we are currently not living there - so sadly we closed our pool about a month ago. :(

I've missed it terribly this past week or so with our heat wave - but I also wasn't about to drive an hour and a half to use it and DEFINITELY not to clean it. :)

We are backwashing it today. We figure we have another month...I hope.

Actually going to go turn the heater on right now so we can get a little more use out of it. Crazy but this is the first summer my older children have used it every day....not worried about their hair or BF's and GF's haha.

The swim club we belong to today closes at 6:00. We're going to grill some burgers for lunch, and then head over to the pool around 2-3:00 and stay until closing.

Good-bye, summer. Hello, fall.

We just moved into a new house in June with a pool, so we've been talking about that this week. When should we etc. Since we're starting to get leaves and twigs dropping into it, I think it will be soon.

We are in TN, so the pool usually doesn't get closed until Oct (it was Nov a few years ago when we had a really warm fall). But now with the cooler nights, a solar shade is definately going to be used.

We don't have our pool anymore, but my DS is a lifeguard and this is the last day for his pool to be open. He said its been a really slow weekend and not to be surprised if he comes home early.

I wait till mid September to close the pool. Never know when we might get a heat wave.

I have a small, above ground pool. This is my first year as a pool owner. I'm hoping to keep it open until the end of the month.

I love that saying! :rotfl2: We will be closing ours soon. I try to stay away from DH when he's doing this, but he always needs me to help him, unfortunately. I don't like being out there with him when he's closing it. It's not pretty. :rotfl:

Love the "stay away from Daddy" line! :lmao::lmao:

the same is true here, man he is a grump when its Pool Closing Day!! He always holds out, hoping for a few more "nice" days, nice days are fine its the chilly nights that keep mommy out of the pool at this time of year!

We've had a pool for over 15 years at 3 different houses, but the idea of closing it is foreign to me. What all is involved?

will be closing our pool in about 2 weeks, only because we are going away this week end coming up or we would be closing it then...So sad to see the end of summer but at least we have a hot tub for the cold winters evening....

In the northeast the motto is open memorial day close labor day. Although many keep it open longer (it is going to 90 today!). We have cuctomers that only close when it starts to snow.

Closing the pool is different for different people depending upon the type of pool you have and the type of cover even. Howerver the main idea is to put chemicals in it to keep it somewhat clean over the winter, make sure undergreound lines are filled with antifreeze, bring in the filtration systems and then properly put on a cover to keep leaves and things out.

This winter I would recomend a 2nd treatment of chemicals in maybe feb, with the weather we have had it cant hurt.
