Okay, I'm putting on my flame-retardant suit and getting ready to duck...
But...Mary Ellen wasn't trying to be rude or insult the fine people of NJ. She mearly stated that when she was in WDW during Jersey week that she noticed a differant attidude of many of the guests. She didn't say these were bad people, just that their attitude differed from the one the people of CO usually have, and prefers to travel at a differant time because of it. In the same post, she did state that she didn't think NJ people were bad, just differant!
I take phone calls from all over the U.S. and Canada, and people from the differant parts of the U.S. do speak and behave differantly, and a lot of times I can tell where they are from before I get their address! My favorite person to speak to (we have regular clients) drives me up the wall because she talks VERY fast and won't let me get a word in edgewise. She's from NYC, and many (not all, but many) people from NYC also talk faster than I'm used to, although I think this caller gets the top prize! I say she is my favorite, because she is a wonderful, nice, friendly, and kind woman. Again, she a wonderful person, but unless I'm very quick on my feet, she rattles off what she wants and hangs up before I can even get to the second sylable of "hello". But I KNOW she isn't being rude, it's just the way she is, and I don't get offended by what would be considered rudeness here in the mid-west. Those from the south east of the U.S. tend to (not all, but more than most) talk a bit slower than what I'm used to here, and again, I don't think it makes them bad people. I just take a deep breath and slow myself down, and realize the call will take just a minute longer than it might otherwise.
Okay, flame away, I'm ready! (I hope). BTW, the only person from NJ I've met in person didn't have an accent that I could detect, nor an attitude differant than my Chicago one. She did have a funny way of comparing car trunk sizes when I was helping her shop for a new car. She said that Saturn's have a two body trunk! I thought it was funny...Also, all I know about the mob is based on the Chicago outfit, not NY/NJ. I don't watch the Sopranos, either.
