TOtal disclaimer: I'm not a DVC owner; I own an II resort and trade in. Wondering if I should sell and buy and RCI one so I can still go to DVC! :sad2: But geez, wonder how hard it will be to get into DVC once the change happens.

Well, happy trading RCI folks!

I'd hold off to see what the arrangement ends up being. There are at least two important but unanswered questions. Will there be a 1-in-N restriction? Will the inventory be primarily in Points, or in Weeks?

If there is a 1-in-N (you can only exchange in once every N years) it might not be worth switching to RCI only for DVC, because II has better availability for other top resorts in Orlando. If the DVC inventory is primarily in Points, then you'll need to go Points. If it's in Weeks, you can go either way unless DVC somehow starts depositing inventory much earlier than they do today---something I don't expect.

Yes, somewhat bummed. We are DVC owners but still trade in regularly using our non-DVC through II. I'm losing that option in the coming years.

We have an RCI Weeks account but were planning on letting it expire at the end of the current subscription. We cancelled our RCI Points account years ago and do not plan to re-up.

Not bummed really. I worked for RCI for 5 years in their IT Department. I can tell you it's a good company with a different system than II. We will just have to get used to the new system. I would assume DVC will be red time all throughout the year. RCIs resort system is based on location and time of year (red, white, or blue).

I think once we all get accustomed to RCIs system we will be fine with it.

with RCI to get the good resorts you must start the exchange anywhere from 24 to 12 months in advance. right now DVC members do not do this.

RCI has been know to give you a resort you did not way. You have a limited period of time to call them back and start again.

RCI needs a heck of alot more watching than II ever did.

RCI will and can rent out the best resorts - guess what they don't own these things and the resorts themselves get none of the profit.

really think the resorts need to take RCI to court. If RCI is to be allowed continuing renting for these resorts - then the resort itself should share in the profits.

RCI no longer sees itself as an exchange company - it rentals are now the first thing it does.

this to me is not good in any exchange company. Don't care who works there - RCI is not good for DVC.
