I forgot to mention, that along with my group of 19 a close friend of mine from Morganville, NJ and her family will be on the 8/28 cruise. Her children's ages at cruise time will be her DD 14, DS 11, & DS 8 1/2.
It does seem like there will be many east coast people.
booked with DU on a particular sailing everyone gets a gift?? What is the gift - anyone know? Maybe it would be worthwhile for me and my sister to move our ressies (which are currently through DCL) to DU. We were thinking about moving to AAA for the Mugs if they offer them - but maybe with the DU rebate/onbard credit - that would be a better option.
We booked 8 staterooms and received $100 off each room since we are now considered a group rate. We were also told we would receive a gift for every room but my DU consultant did not know what it was yet. Since we booked early we are also all getting a rebate as well as shipboard credits.
Now the hard part is the waiting, and waiting, .....
When 8 or more staterooms are booked for one reservation it is considered a Group Rate. The rebate and shipboard credit was available without the group of 8 rooms, but the extra $100 and gift (whatever it will be) is only because we are now considered a group. If one family drops out, we will all be charged back the $100.
I went with DU since I always see them recommended on the board and the prices did seem great.
Hey, you guys are on the ball. When we sailed this month I received a $100 credit from DU and a stateroom gift. The stateroom gift was given because there were at least 8 cabins booked on the cruise through DU (not related cabins). The gift was a Welcome Aboard Tray of cookies and candies and a bottle of some non-alcoholic sparkling cider.
I think you are right to wait and see what may be available closer to sailing. But I do think that the credit is probably better than the mugs. Then again, I don't drink much soda. I wish I had known about DU and this website on my other 2 cruises. Could have saved money.
Any info from DU yet about switching your ressie to the 28th. Its good to know that there are already 8 cabins booked - this way If I do switch to DU we would get the gift also...
Last year the mugs came in so handy - we got 4 but we gave 2 to our friends that came with us - the guys drank their beer(that we brought with us and us girls drank our mixed drinks) and we didnt look like a bunch of lushes - LOL as far as anyone else knew - it was soda....
We just changed our booking for Dec. 2004 to the Aug. 28/04 sailing. It wasn't that much more and I won't have to take my DD out of school. We were able to get our favourite stateroom 7620 (one of the "secret verandah" rooms) It will be DD, who will be 11 and myself. Looks like we are up to 12 bookings for that date with DU!!
People think I'm crazy when I book these so far in advance! I had booked our Dec. 2002 cruise in 2000. It gives me the incentive to save for it, and boy the time sure does fly! This will be our first cruise in the summer. Our first two cruises were in Dec.
Cathy from DU just confirmed that she switched our booking to 8/28/04. Don't know the stateroom number, but it is a Cat 8.
Sailing: Darlene (me), my DH Stan, and our DD Sandra (Sandy) who will turn 7 the week before we sail.
I'm already looking forward to it. I feel like the little pink bouncy thing.
Life is a fragile thing and I plan on lifting up prayers for the astronauts we lost today. I plan to hug my loved ones and continue to plan special times like the Disney Cruise to set aside time to just be together and enjoy each others' company. God bless their families, and God bless each of our families. If my plan meets his plan, we will be together on 8/28/04.
I love your username! I checked out your website the other day. Great pictures and captions. Like a picture storybook. I really enjoyed it all. Your Around the World in 80 Years didn't have anything on it. The list of places, have you been to them or are they your wishlist? I have my own wishlist.
I may go into some kind of withdrawl before Aug 2004. I'm trying to plan a Christmas break trip to WDW for this year. Hope it works out and then maybe I can make it until the cruise.
