good point about info gathering. We are all planners or else we might not be on the DIS.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who gets crazy into planning though!!

Well, you may have me there...

info gathering is part of the planning process.
Yes, I agree it is part of planning. I like to make sure we have slots to do certain things, but I try hard not to force everyone in my family into those slots. If they want to do something, then I know a good slot. If not, we move on. I do not want to regiment every day, but on the other hand I am as bad as any of you at cracking the whip in the morning to get everyone to the parks for rope drop. Once we get into the parks, we use a combination of my suggestions and everyone's requests and merge those into something that looks like spontaneity but has a lot of thought behind it.

Whip, what whip???? :confused3 :guilty: I actually have another more effective way to get them going that doesn't leave the marks......

Dh says he disagree's with above statement and said he is scarred for life!

He's looking over my shoulder again:lmao:

I am so nit picky when it comes to planning. I am with you, and know exactly what your going through.

I can cram hours in pouring over travel brochures and websites to find things that are new, compare prices on places, find the best places to eat, the best things to see, and know where things are as well.

I dont wanna miss ANYTHING!

I like to have options upon options to discuss with my travel buddies to see what they are interested in doing. That way we all have something fun and exciting to look forward to. When we get there everything is spontaneous, but I like to have those few little things planned for us like character. In between those set times I am game for anything.

I am with you book worm. Maybe it is that the Washington (live in Longview) air......Ha. Ha. Planning, planning, leaving two weeks from today. Driving my husband crazy!

I am also a compulsive planner and from the same hometown! Small world!

I booked our vacation through WDTC and changed the hotel last week and now I have to call to change the dates (darn snow days)!

Once we remotely decide we are going I begin looking up stuff on the computer. I like to find a new book everytime to plan with also. DH gets nose out of joint a little at amount of time I spend but also admits when we go to the parks the trip is really successful and we get a lot more done then the guidebooks suggest. I think it gets to be a game a the parks at how much we can get done in the morning. We do take some breaks in the afternoon. Then we go full blast in the evening again.

DD are 5 and 7 and we are going on 4th year of going. It is kind of fun how different each year is. I started out with a 2 year old who was short and a 4 year old who was scared of dark rides. That limited us to lots of characters. Now I have 2 rollercoaster fanatics and mom feels queezy at the end of the day. With the different interests now it just gives me more planning to do. Yeah!!!

Thanks to Hydroguy for your reports and organization. I am not quite a regimental as that but I have used much of your information. Thanks for your work.

You are welcome. And I hope I come across more as "knowledgable" than "regimental". Oh well. :smooth:

Add me to the DCP list  my DH thinks I'm nuts.

I am a born and raised WA girl from Lynnwood, but now reside in sunny CA (don't miss the winter gloom, but miss the Seattle waterfront).

My worse case of DCP was our DCL/WDW trip in 2005 (15 Days) I got up at 4:00am PST to make all my PS Ressies, got everything I wanted. I had so many notes, info, etc. I had them all labeled in a expanding plastic folder, but we saw everything and did everything we wanted with no mishaps.

I say if it works for you, DO IT! :woohoo: I still plan out every trip we do, even the weekend trips. We have DLR trips planned for Feb, April and October and we hope another WDW trip in 2008 :cheer2:

I love to plan a trip... and now, after Disneyland planning, I am hooked!! We can't go again for another 2-3 years, but I think I am going to start planning now :goodvibes

It's a Small World After All... we live in Longview too! I am obsessively planning our December trip right now...

Another Longview Disfan! We should have a Disney planning session at Common Ground or something, LOL!

 Hello! It is a very small world! When we were at DL in 2004, I actually ran into someone from the local scrapbook store that I knew. When I went up to her to say hi, DH thought I was nuts (he didn't realize that I knew her). :rotfl: Who would have thought?!

Longview gal here too! We leave on the 30th and I have planned until my hearts content. Just did the VP call to make sure the free glossy pic upon check-in at DLH will be there and the milk and cookie thing to our room the first night so when we get there our son will think Mickey left them there just for him. Gotta love it!!!

That is so sweet! He is going to be so happy!

We have never stayed at DLH. Is this your first time there?

I stayed there like 20 years ago with my family. We went to WDW in 1998 for our honeymoon. 7 days to go!!

Puyallup- An yes I am a compulsive planner - right up to the last minute. I actually enjoy it and love to find out new things to do. I usually plan everyday and what we are doing. It's an adventure with the Hamblet family - On every trip not just Disney. :yay:

yep...I'm on that same bandwagon....and I called everywhere to see what the best rate was for tickets and hotels and found the DLH rates were best for me to book straight from them (called reservations) and that buying tickets are cheaper for me on base (I'm active duty) than paying the kids price for everyone. Plus I like to have tickets in hand when I get there! And DH just goes along for the ride and says "you are taking this way to far!!!" but when all he has to do is show up, drive and ride the rides, he's good!!! And I do end of feeling like is was worth my time and effort knowing that we enjoy our trip even better when we have planned a little ahead...I don't do the every hour down to the minute thing, but I do like to decide which day to do what park and if we want to see shows and that kinda stuff...we planned a day at Sea World and may just do that on one the busy days at Disney (maybe Sat or Sun)...but you are not alone!!!

P.S. and I am also in Washington (Oak Harbor)
