Anyone dying Easter eggs??????

We did ours this morning. And guess what? I actually found the old-fashioned dyes. The ones we had when we were young...in the little bottles!

Oh wow, that must have been from the early 1900's then right? ;)

My DD13 learned how to do Ukrainian eggs last year and so she and I did some of those while DD6 sponge painted hers (with with a kit from Paas or Dudley or whoever)

We just finished ours too. DD had commmented the other day that they never turn out quite like you hope with the food coloring. (Can you say perfectionist?) She suggested painting them. So we did and they are gorgeous. DS5 just did his a hodgepodge of colors and I like his best actually. They are very VanGogh looking. DS7 painted his and then wiped off all of the paint and they turned our looking like watercolors. DD and I both went with painting a pattern and both agreed that the freestyle looks prettier. We plan to do the same thing next year too. It was a lot faster and more involved than just waiting while they sat in the dye.

Kelly--your boys are adorable!! And those STar Wars eggs look fun.

My kids are teenagers now and I haven't done this for years, I really miss it:guilty: For those of you who are, cherish it.....before you know it, it will be gone:sad2:

We did our dye jobs earlier today. DD was mySpacing all day and on occasion turned around from the PC to make a few eggs. DS was worried he'd be doing it alone and I assured him I'd never be too old to make some Easter eggs & I hoped he and his sister & brother would never get too old either :)

We just use good old vinegar, water & food coloring over crayon designs. They came out cute, although DS decided to make faces and voice bubble on a few with phrases like "PU What stinks?" :rotfl:

We dyed eggs tonight and had a blast. They painted some too with some sparkly paint. I will cherish these moments, as they seem to go by fast.

Now we get to wait for the Easter bunny.

I remember my grandma boiling eggs in red onion peels and they came out that brown reddish coloring to them. My mom use to tell us that that's the REAL Easter bunny eggs. So my grandma would give a couple to my mom to put in our basket in the morning before we woke up. Found memories.

My dd, who is 17, and I are doing them tonight! she is a big kid just like her Mom!

Yup just finished. THe kids each did 4 and are very proud of their masterpieces :)

Three of the kids did them tonight. DD12, DS14 and DD16 did them. I boiled them earlier and gave them the kit and said "don't make a mess!"
Yea....I'm cherishing the moment!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:thumbsup2 We did here...I have the rainbow colored finger tips to prove it!

My children are 3 yrs and five weeks. Obviously the little one will forgo Easter this year. Tonight was the first time my oldest son dyed Easter eggs. He had so much fun! Then he pretty much dropped and broke each one when trying to carry them around to play with them. Oh well, it was all worth it watching him color the eggs.
I just got through putting his basket together and hiding plastic eggs around the house. The holidays are so much fun with little ones.

I'm kinda sad, other than boiling the eggs and measuring the vinegar (yuck, I'm not touching that!), my girls did it all themselves (even cleaned up the mess except for loading the dishwasher).:sad1:

We did two dozen. Used Paas I think and also did the ones with the dye that is a QTip looking thing.

DD had a great time and hers are beautiful colors. DHs look a little weird.

I LOVE the Star Wars ones. I thought about getting those but said nah. If they have them next year, I will definitely get them.

DH and DS just finished about 15 minutes ago. They had fun and did a good job. I am a loser, and I bought a dozen eggs, pre boiled. I can bake a pie from scratch, but I can master egg boiling....:confused3

DS and DH each made a special one for me  and then out of the blue DS also made a special one for my mom, who died in an accident when he was 8 months old. He put hearts all over it and made it pink (her favorite color). :sad1: It made me sad to think how excited she would be to have any egg made by him, but it also just made me realize for the seven billionth time how much I love that little man...

I miss the toddler years something fierce (he's 5 1/2) but this age is a lot more fun in a lot of ways.

My youngest is 18 but I still dyed easter eggs tonight all by my lonesome but luckily my boys are all here this weekend to at least eat them!! :teeth:

My cousins and i did ours yesterday--were 22, 20, and 18 and we've been dying eggs at my grandmas since we were 7,5,3..So we keep up the tradition and do it every year

We colored 2 dozen eggs tonight. My youngest dd3 thought that the cup with the pretty liquid in it was juice and wanted to drink it!! I told her no, it is the eggs bath and we have to dunk the egg in it. My oldest dd became very uspet when she accidentally dropped her favorite green egg and it cracked.
