Anyone driving from Central/Northern Alabama?

We do avoid Atlanta. We go Opelika, Columbus, Albany, Tifton, then I 75 to Lake City.

You forgot me in Phenix City, just 20 minutes from Opelika on the way to Columbus. You pass my fake "Super Walmart" (don't ask). I did enjoy this route much better even though I slept most of the way home (busy week in WDW)

boy you are going to be tired.

what are you going to in Oxford, al?

Huntsville has the Space Museum not to mention the School.

Memphis and Nashville been too - but don't remember alot. there was the grand old opery and then Heritage (Jackson's house).

Atlanta has several things to see and do.

when I go back to work I can find more stuff for your. Home has a much, much, much slower computer.

We are into Motorsports so we are going to Talladega...

I'm from Oxford originally and still live near there. I had a feeling that's where you were going! (nothing to do in Oxford). The Hall of Fame at Talladega is really neat.

I can also tell you that it's about 2 1/2 hours from Oxford to Huntsville - not a bad drive at all.

haven't been to Disney since I was around ohh, Lets just say they were just finishing Epcot. I have three wonderful kids that can't wait to get there so SUDDENLY we decided; "Well, we better do this before they are grown." That was less than 2 months ago - so we are kind of clueless!

any question just ask.

I have been doing to Disney since the 70's (grandmother) and the 80's (on my own) - brought DVC in 93 - I do love the place!!!!:woohoo:

Hi,

We are driving from Orlando to Oxford Al stayin 1 night, Huntsville stayin 1 night, Memphis stayin 3 nights, Nashville stayin 2 nights, Atlanta stayin 2 nights and back to Orlando 10 nights at WDW.

probably about 8 hours to Oxford, al from Orlando
Praise2Him - correct me if I am wrong.

You quickest route would (assuming from the airport) - the toll road (was bell line express but they changed the name) to Florida turnpike (another toll road) to I75 - then in Atlanta take I675 then I285 then I20 to Oxford.

here is mapquest

Thankyou muchly!!! :)

I live in Oxford and we have only driven to DW once! We prefer to fly if we can afford it. It's actually about a 10 hr drive. When we went, we went through Atlanta. The one time we drove, we did two days going down (left late one evening and stopped to sleep). However, on the way back, we drove in one day! NEVER again! My youngest DD, about 4 at the time, decided she needed to "potty" every hour on the hour! She just didn't want to ride anymore.

Another place to "explore" between Oxford and Huntsville is Guntersville. I grew up in that area so I somewhat take that area for granted. However, most people that visit the area think it is one of the most beautiful!

Well HELLO to all my fellow Alabamians! We too are from Tuscaloosa and take the "Dothan" route. It took us about 12 hours in March due to having toddlers and taking potty breaks. Not a bad drive TO Disney - it's the going home part I hate!

From Montgomery and subbing to check out the route through Opelika as we will be picking up son at Auburn. We've always gone through Dothan to I-10. We are thinking of trying the Auburn route this year.

Which Auburn route are you talking about? I didn't know there was one. We are about 30 minutes west of Auburn.

We went throught Dothan to I-10 twice and it is soooo much longer than going to Albany and then to I-75. We went a different route through Americus, Plains, and Cordele before getting to I-75 and although senic, I wouldn't recommend it, becuase it was just that, a scenic route. Now unless we want to stop in Graceville, Fl to shop at the Lee jean/VanityFair outlet, we will go to Albany then Tifton to I-75.

War Eagle/Go Tigers!!!!!

I'm not sure. My husband was talking about it. He got it off MapQuest. I think some others above referred to it. If I get a chance, I'll call him later.
